Public benefits

The purpose of CREED Ireland is the advancement of religion by assisting churches to define, strategise and implement their mission. The expression of Christian religion through engagement with the general public in local communities is a public benefit. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose are the enjoyment of being part of church

life, belonging to a church family, being valued, and having pastoral and social needs met. These include youth provision, family support services, seniors’ services, and support for the disadvantaged and sick. The beneficiaries are the general public and these benefits are demonstrated by increased participation in church life, money being released for outreach and community services, and church halls and locally located premises released for community use. The wider benefit to local communities will outweigh any detriment arising. The beneficiaries are also the church leadership with whom CREED works in helping them define and put strategies in place that will impact the local communities. CREED has run training conferences where church leaders can share experiences and learn from each other. The benefits include mentorship and support for church leaders, tools and strategies to encourage them in their ministries, leading to increased confidence, more strategic thinking and an awareness of the needs of the communities in which they work. This is evidenced and demonstrated through ongoing evaluation with these churches and Christian organisations. A private benefit to Trustees may arise from our programmes with churches regarding good practice, sharing experiences, and they may gain skills and knowledge which are transferable to other settings. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the fulfilment of our purpose. No Trustee receives remuneration, reward or other private benefit for carrying out their Trustee responsibility.
