Public benefits

Purpose 1. To Provide recreational and developmental activities for young people The Direct benefits that flow from this purpose are that young people have and opportunity to socialise and learn new skills in their own community. They get a chance to partake in activities which they many not otherwise experience due to the geographical location

where they live or because of economic factors such as not being able to afford these activities if they were not being offered at nominal cost. The benefit of this purpose can be demonstrated by increased self confidence and positive feedback from our members their families and the wider community. There is no harm invisaged from this purpose. The direct beneficiaries of this purpose are the children and young people of the Shelagh area and its environs There is an indirect benefit to the parents and friends of the club who have an opportunity to meet, volunteer and develop friendships through the work of the club. Some of our instructors are paid expenses for providing activities but this is incidental and necessary to offer a broad based programme to our members Purpose 2. To Provide informal educational programmes for young people The direct benefit that flows from this activity is that our children and young people have an opportunity to gain new skills and experiences in the club. This can include practical skills such as performance and dance skills or other practical skills such as cooking. Soft skills such as interpersonal skills and teamwork can also be demonstrated The benefits can be evidenced through positive feedback from members and their families. There is a high level of involvement of past members as group leaders who wish to 'give back' to the club There is no harm envisaged from this purpose The beneficiaries of the purpose are the children and young people of the Shelagh Area and its environs The only private benefit from this purpose would be gaining skills that would be transferrable to many different settings in later life 3. To provide a safe place for young people to mix with their peers The direct benefit is that the club provides a focal point for young people in our community and reduces potential anti social behaviour The benefits are evidenced through low levels of anti social behaviour in the community and positive feedback from the wider community for the work the club is involved in No harm is envisaged from this purpose The beneficiaries of this purpose are the young people of our community their families and the wider community There is not private benefit accruing from this purpose
