Public benefits

Carers Matter shall provide services and support to carers of all ages living primarily in the Southern Trust catchment area. Our purposes and the benefits flowing from these purposes are:- 1. To relieve the mental and physical stresses experienced by carers by the provision of advice, support, respite, advocacy and information; thus enabling the

carers to benefit from reduction in isolation, improvements in health and wellbeing and empowerment to make informed decisions and take greater control over their lives. 2. To provide support to and liaise with individual carers, carers support groups in the area of benefit and other carers organisations offering a platform that ensures the promotion of the needs and rights of carers; thus creating greater carer participation and representation within the community, statutory and voluntary sector and enhanced joint working and greater cohesiveness of carers services. 3. Advance education concerning caring amongst carers, the public and professional and statutory authorities; thus ensuring a greater understanding by SHSCT staff, at all levels, of the issues and concerns affecting carers, increasing the number of carers accessing support services, increased likelihood of carers maintaining caring role and enhanced signposting and accessing of the service within community, statutory and voluntary sector services. Overall the organisation reduces the difficulties faced by carers in their daily lives and enables them to have more proactive roles both as carers and within the community. These benefits are demonstrated through:- I. Ongoing monitoring and evaluation systems and review II. Feedback from carers and stakeholders through satisfaction surveys III. Stakeholder perception analysis surveys IV. Ongoing relationships with Trust through quarterly meetings and monitoring reports. There is no harm to our beneficiaries. The main benefits flowing from our purposes are primarily to carers. Coincidently, the only private benefit flowing from this purpose is our volunteers and Trustees may benefit from ongoing training and governance, which is necessary because Carers Matter is aware of the need for ongoing training and good governance.
