Public Benefits: The provision of care and accommodation to those in need of same due to the effects of alcohol, drugs or other addictive influences on them or their family unit. The direct benefits flow from the operation of a residential facility giving those affected somewhere they can stay in a sheltered environment for extended periods of

time. The benefits include people recovering their general physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. The beneficiaries include any member of the public who requests care and accommodation. The benefits are demonstrated by the testimony of many individuals who have been direct users of the charity’s services and also the testimony of their family members. In addition there is the testimony of support workers to the users’ i.e. social workers and medical practitioners. Harm Analysis and Reduction: The purposes of our charity may lead to the harm that someone who has been sober/clean from powerful mood altering substances might come to physical harm if they relapsed. This harm is reduced by advising of the dangers of relapse and informing the users of relapse prevention methods. Private Benefit: The only private benefit flowing from this purpose is the provision of residence and subsistence to staff supervising the users while they are resident at the charity. This is incidental and necessary because the nature of the users’ problems requires close supervision on a continual basis. The provision of Christian counsel and guidance to those in receipt of care or accommodation, or such other persons as the Trustees may in their absolute discretion see fit. What your organisation does

Christian Family Centre (NI) provides spiritual, emotional and practical support to those going through crisis, especially caused by addiction or substance abuse. We primarily do this by providing a pastoral programme for both single people and families, in a sheltered environment. We assist people for different lengths of time depending upon

their specific need. Many of our clients have reached a stage in their life were they are in a state of material, emotional and spiritual poverty. On our programme we promote the therapeutic benefit of manual and creative work. We have wood-work and metal workshops and also a polytunnel and vegetable garden for our clients to work in. We also provide art classes with a therapeutic purpose.
