The public benefits of our charitable purposes listed above are as follows:- • The relief of poverty through increased opportunities to learn, train and be successful in attaining paid employment locally • A reduction in unemployment because of enhanced opportunities to upskill, gain work experience and attain paid-for job positions • An increase
in the number of indigenous businesses established • An increase in the survival rates of business start-ups as a result of the advice, training & mentoring received • An improvement in the skills and experience of the local resident population such that Lisburn becomes an attractive destination for businesses to locate, thus providing more opportunities for paid jobs, skills and experience • An enlargement of the local economy by providing support to businesses to become sustainable and prosper thus employing more people locally whose wages when spent locally, sustain many more business. • The enhanced access to support structures making it easier for people to access advice, training & mentoring in entrepreneurship & business skills • The advancement in awareness of enterprise as a viable career option These benefits are evidenced in a number of ways, both in the collection of primary data and the review of independently produced statistics:- • Poverty indicators used include: NI Multiple Deprivation Measure statistics, Bankruptcy cases, Property repossessions, income support claimants • Unemployment indicators used include: Jobseekers claimant counts, long term unemployed indicators, redundancies confirmed • Business start-up indicators used include: INI investment statistics, INI RSI Start up figures • Business growth indicators used include: VAT / PAYE businesses registered, vacancies notified to Job Centres • Clients engaging with Lisburn Enterprise Organisation are also asked, depending on the specific nature of their engagement, for feedback on how the intervention provided by Lisburn Enterprise Organisation impacted on their confidence in starting up a business, the development of their business & entrepreneurial skills, contributed to reducing the many barriers experienced by people starting up in business and/or positively influenced their decision to start a business. The beneficiaries of Lisburn Enterprise Organisation are the residents of Lisburn City Council area. Where private benefit does exist in respect of staff employed by the charity and the favourable terms enjoyed by business owners locating in the Enterprise Centre, this is incidental and the accrued benefits of increased employment opportunities, skills & training and the relief of poverty outweighs any detriment that may be caused. We do not anticipate that any harm will flow from any of the above purposes.

Enterprise Awareness A key feature of our work is the promotion of an enterprise culture and awareness raising activities to highlight self-employment and entrepreneurship as positive and rewarding career choices. • Design and delivery of student entrepreneurship & employability workshops • Exhibiting at careers exhibitions and Job Fairs
• Outreach work in the local college • Sponsorship of student & business awards • Working with prisoners in local prisons • Facilitating access to support services by migrant workers Business Start Up • Exploring Enterprise – accredited training & mentoring programme for the long term unemployed and economically inactive to support their re-engagement with the labour market • INI Regional Start Initiative - providing individuals who want to start a new business with advice and the capability to produce their own business plan • COMET Boot Camp - group learning and one-to-one implementation support for young entrepreneurs aged between 16-35 years • Graduate into Business Programme – a package of mentoring and technical support to aspiring and existing graduate entrepreneurs Business Development • Tradelinks Programme - supports businesses to grow their customer base beyond NI and build on exports to the Republic of Ireland • Promotion of the Invest in Health, Profit in Business campaign encouraging entrepreneurs to invest in the health of their employees • Collaboration with other business support organisations to promote access by local business owners to a range of initiatives so as they get the necessary support to grow their business. Business Support • Assist clients in applying for grants and loans. • Provision of light industrial/office type business accommodation on favourable terms including 30 day licences, all-inclusive licence fee, onsite business advice and other facilities. • Provision of meeting rooms & conference facilities on an hourly basis for flexible use by local businesses • Virtual office services
