Public benefits

Purpose 1 - The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include increased availability of financial support for high quality registered childcare for working parents which enhances parental confidence in the safety of that care, delivers improved educational development for children and eases parental stress and anxiety both in the workplace

and at home. These benefits will be demonstrated through the publication of information through our research and policy work, on our website and social media platforms and through direct advice and information provision during outreach work. We will quantify the number of people to whom such advice is provided, and by following up on their experiences after their initial engagement with us, will be able to estimate the increase in use of registered childcare. We will also monitor this through our annual research and survey work. There is no possibility of harm as a result of this purpose. The charity’s beneficiaries are working parents and their dependant children. Purpose 2 - The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include enhanced quality of family life through increased employment opportunities and improved uptake of financial support. It also raises awareness and knowledge regarding the rights of people with dependents in the workplace with easier access to information for employees and employers. These benefits will be demonstrated through both qualitative and quantitative measures. Our social accounting procedures will measure the impact of our information and advice on families’ understanding of their rights and access to financial support. Our databases will record the number of enquiries received and responded to from employers and employees, and through surveys we will measure the extent to which people are satisfied with the service they have received. There is no possibility of harm as a result of this purpose. The charity’s beneficiaries are parents and their dependent children as well as those seeking to secure or sustain employment. Purpose 3 - The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include raising awareness and improvement of childcare and parental entitlements in the future and improvement of family life through creation of a significant evidence base to underpin and inform strategy and policy development. These benefits will be demonstrated through reference to our research by other organisations across the public, private, voluntary, community and social enterprise sectors, as well as continued engagement with political decision makers to influence their policy and strategy development. There is no possibility of harm as a result of this purpose. The charity’s beneficiaries are parents and their children whose interests and concerns will be communicated more widely and used to inform the development of strategy and policy across Northern Ireland. Purpose 4 - The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include improvement and preservation of family life with development of informed policy and strategy leading to increased provision of high quality childcare and pre-school facilities.
