Purpose - to advance the education of children under statutory school page in Bangor and its surrounding environs in County Down by the provision of safe and satisfying group play, with the right of parents/carers to take responsibility for and to become involved in the activities of the group; and to promote the preservation of health of the

beneficiaries. What benefit flows from this purpose? The benefits which flow from this purpose include the enhanced education of pre-school children and preparing them for Primary Education. Can you demonstrate this? These benefits are demonstrated through feedback from parents, using questionnaires, parents comment book and personal feedback during parent interviews. Yearly Inspection Reports from Social Services and also Inspection Reports from the Department of Education Inspectorate. Support and feedback from our Early Years Specialist in detailed termly reports. Is any harm or possibility of harm outweighed by the benefit? In providing pre-school education opportunities there is no harm or possibility of harm to the children. Who is the benefit for? The beneficiaries are pre-school children aged 3 and 4, living in Bangor, Co Down and surrounding rural areas. The beneficiaries also include family member of pre-school children aged 3 and 4 attending our Playgroup. Is there any private benefit? Is it incidental or necessary? A private benefit to trustees may arise from our programmes of ongoing training e.g The Effective Committee and also in Child Protection. Through this training trustees gain skills and experience which are transferable to other settings. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries.

What your organisation does

Early Days Playgroup aims to provide children with a secure stimulating, healthy and above all, happy environment in which they have ample opportunities to learn through play. We recognise and value childhood as being an important stage of life and encourage each child to progress at their own individual pace. We provide preschool facilities in a

community with high density housing with no access to outdoor play areas or indoor recreational facilities.

Charitable purposes

The Group is established to promote play based learning environments for all children under statutory school age (hereinafter referred to as the beneficiaries) of the Bangor and its surrounding environs in County Down (hereinafter called the ‘area of benefit’) without distinction of age, gender, marital status, disability, sexual orientation, nationality, ethnic identity, political or religious opinion, by associating the statutory authorities, community and voluntary organisations and the inhabitants in a common effort to advance education, and in particular: a) to advance the education of the beneficiaries by the provision of safe and satisfying group play, with the right of parents/carers to take responsibility for and to become involved in the activities of the group; and to promote the preservation of health of the beneficiaries; and b) to support the values and principles of Early Years.
