Public benefits
(a) For the general relief of poverty The direct benefit which flows from this purpose provides funding for other charities to help recipients in need receive support, counselling, education, housing and employment. These benefits are evidenced through feedback through the recipient charities and through independent evaluation of those charities to
which the Trust makes donations. For example, our funding supports relief of poverty programmes for those in need such as the provision of clean drinking water and education and skills programmes which helps beneficiaries in gaining employment and leads to more self sufficiency in earning a living and a better quality of life. The purpose does not lead to any harm. The beneficiaries are those who are the beneficiaries of the recipient charities, whether that be local, national or worldwide who live in poverty. (b) For the propagation and advancement of medical learning and medical research generally The direct benefit which flows from this purpose provides funding for charities which help advance medical learning such as improved health outcomes, longer living and reduced stress amongst families. These benefits are evidenced through feedback through healthcare professionals and the chosen recipient charities. In providing medical research for patients with illnesses there is a risk of unintended side effects however, the benefits outweigh the risk. This is in the nature of medical research. The trustees rely on the expertise and professionalism of the charities it funds to properly assess and manage any harm. The beneficiaries are charities linked to those providing all kinds of aid to the general public in medical research such as Cancer Research UK, The MS Society, Parkinson's UK and Huntington's charities. (c) For the sponsorship of missionaries of the Christian Church and all its denominations The direct benefit which flows from this purpose is the provision of funding to charities and organisations by the sponsorship of missionaries. This helps those in need to listen and learn about Christian belief and to benefit through the provision of housing, clean water and education through the associated work of the missionaries and can only enhance the lives of those taking part. These benefits are evidenced through feedback from missionaries and the chosen charities. The purpose does not lead to harm. The beneficiaries are those persons helped by charities linked to those providing aid and the supply of missionaries of the Christian Church such as the Sisters of Mercy who work with those affected by poverty, those affected by homelessness, those with long term illnesses and mental health charities and support groups and groups working with abused women through the good works of the Missionaries. (d) For the advancement of the Christian Church and all its denominations The direct benefit which flows from this purpose includes the provision of funding for charities and organisations which advance the Christian Church and all its denominations. These benefits are evidenced through feedback from the chosen Christian Churches. The purpose does not lead to harm. It is to support the Christian Churches by funding registered charities/Churches to provide appropriate funding. The beneficiaries are charities which advance the Christian Church. A private benefit to trustees may arise from ongoing learning in good governance, finance and skills. These benefits are incidental only and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to the ultimate beneficiaries.
