Public benefits

The direct benefits which flow from purpose 1 include promotion of family stability and wellbeing, and increased ability to contribute positively to society, for those attending. These purposes can be detailed as follows: a) Organise lectures, seminars, conferences and other gatherings or members and non-members, to present the understanding of

inter-cultural, inter-communal dialogue The meetings are free of charge and open to all, and the public benefit of such meetings is expected to be through the promotion of family stability and wellbeing, and increased ability to contribute positively to society, for those attending. b) Provide support and guidance to those activities of its members that seek to promote, in NI. The benefit of such support and guidance is to enable those members to be better able to serve in the local community. The organisation provides teaching and training opportunities for members, using the resources of the staff employed by the organisation and also external courses and events. These are advertised on the organisation website as necessary, using volunteers. c) Assist the work of individuals and other inter-cultural, inter-communal dialogue organisations, insofar as that work, whether in this country or abroad, accords with the organisation’s aims. The public benefit of providing donations to such charitable organizations is expected to be in accordance with their aims and purposes. We make donations as agreed each year by the members of the organisation in the organisation’s budget. The purpose of these donations includes the promotion of intercultural and interfaith dialogue activity, relief of poverty, education, support to migrant communities, training and equipping, work with youth and the elderly, and other local and national charities. The main benefit which flows from purpose 2 is to carry grass root activities to academic scale. The direct benefits which flow from purpose 3 include new generations with wider vision. This purpose is also to carry out acts of social concern to benefit immigrant persons in Northern Ireland and facing difficulty on the basis of their need and integration. The public benefit of these acts is expected to be in the area of poverty relief, caring, youth and elderly people’s activities aimed promoting their health, wellbeing, spiritual life and education, and is addressed by organisation activities, volunteer activities of individual members, and also by donations to appropriate charitable organizations and activities of the organisation in the organisation’s budget. Also to assist the work of individuals and organisations, in so far as that work, whether in this country or abroad, accords with the organisation’s aims. The public benefit of providing support and resources to such charitable organizations and individuals are expected to be in accordance with their aims and purposes, which include intercultural and interfaith dialogue activity, relief of poverty, training and equipping, work with youth and the elderly, education, support to migrant communities and others in need, primarily but not exclusively in Northern Ireland. Finally to develop relationships with other organisations with the similar purposes in Northern Ireland and the surrounding areas, as well as nationally and overseas, which are mutually beneficial in advancing our aims. These benefits are evidenced through feedback from people who took part in activities. There is no harm or possibility of harm flowing from this purpose. The charity’s beneficiaries are people mostly living in Northern Ireland. However there are some activities including international beneficiaries. Second country where most beneficiaries are from Republic of Ireland. There is no private benefit flowing from this purpose.

What your organisation does

Our organisation promotes awareness of cultural, faith and community issues in Northern Ireland Co-operate and enter into arrangements with any authorities, national, local or otherwise. Bring together in conference representatives of voluntary organisations, Government Departments, statutory authorities and individuals. Arrange and provide

for, either alone or with others, the holding of exhibitions, meetings, outings, lectures, classes, seminars or training courses. Collect and disseminate information on all matters relating to its objects, and to exchange such information with other bodies having similar objects whether in the United Kingdom or elsewhere. Write, print or publish, in whatever form, such papers, books, periodicals, pamphlets or other documents, including films and recorded material, as shall further its objects, and to issue or circulate the same whether for payment or otherwise

Charitable purposes

The charity's objects are specifically restricted to the following: For the advancement of reconciliation or the promotion of religious or racial harmony or equality and diversity for the public benefit by any lawful means but including the following: (1) For the benefit of the public to advance and promote inter-cultural, inter-communal dialogue, understanding and appreciation in NI. (2) For the benefit of the public to encourage, undertake, sponsor and contribute towards academic research, work and publication that relates to inter-cultural, inter-communal dialogue in NI will contribute either directly or indirectly towards advancing appreciation and understanding of cultures, communities in NI. (3) To advance the education of students in NI with a view of providing them with help and support towards their academic studies, helping them forge partnership academic work projects, encouraging them to support ongoing projects of the organisation and overall encouraging them to contribute towards raising interest in inter-cultural dialogue studies.
