Public benefits
The direct benefits which flow from our purpose include, social events which promote good relations between staff and parents and help new pupils settle into school and get to know people, for example, June barbecue to welcome the new intake of pupils or rugby trip to Ravenhill for parents, pupils and siblings and support for all pupils in the
school through the application of PTA funds in support of extra-curricular activities and educational opportunities. Funds raised through subscription fees and through fundraising are used to • provide equipment, other facilities or activities that would not otherwise be available that will benefit all pupils in the school and the advancement of their education. • Provide financial assistance to pupils to enable them to access additional learning opportunities • Support the delivery of pastoral support initiatives – these include o Internet safety education for children o Wellbeing and health initiatives o Consultation with the school authorities in relation to School Policies (for example, the Anti Bullying Policy, Pastoral Care policies) The benefits are demonstrated through the provision of a programme of events and financial support for the school and its pupils. Attendance and effectiveness of PTA events is subject to ongoing evaluation by the Committee and AGM. The purposes of our charity are considered very unlikely to cause harm. Our events are open to parents, pupils, their siblings (depending on the nature of the event) and wider family circle, teaching staff and families, ancillary staff and families and to the general public and represent a part of the schools’ engagement with the community. Access to these events is not limited to parents (or their children) who are “members of the PTA”, having paid their annual £3 subscription – no check is made on subscription status before someone attends an event. In respect of members of the Committee, there are no private benefits flowing from the purposes of the Charity.
