Public benefits

The benefits that flow from our purposes include: • Prevention of racial harassment and attacks through promotion of good relations through celebrating diversity and respect for different communities and cultures. • We run cross community seminars and workshops, promote advice and information about local ethnic minorities to the wider community

and provide anti-racism and equality training to statutory bodies and the wider community. • Increased access to all statutory services to ensure the full participation of local ethnic minority communities in social, public and economic life. • Advancing participation and community belonging by developing single identity work and engaging numerous cross community activities. Empowerment of local ethnic minority community and promoting active citizenship. This also increases mutual understanding and respect and therefore improves community cohesion and integration. There is no harm and the benefit to the public can be demonstrated by participant feedback and evaluation. The private benefit would only be incidental, in the payment of staff such as the Director, Community Admin worker, Chinese Secretary, After School Club Tutors and Chinese School Tutors. What your organisation does

• Vital information will be provided to the local ethnic minorities and wider community through the Multi-Cultural Centre. A Chinese library facility is provided. • Provide anti-racism & equality training for wider community & local ethnic minorities. • The Information Centre will co-ordinate interpreting & health advocacy services & provide

confidential advice & support on a range of issues relating to multi-statutory agencies. • Providing Chinese Language classes, Arabic classes, after-school clubs & outreach to wider community playgroups & youth clubs. • BME youth centre & out of school activities to help young people who are currently in, or have recently left, the education system to find courses and training programmes. • Befriending Service will provide home visits for new migrants, the disabled & elderly. • Workshops, clinics & seminars will provide information about statutory services such Health, • Housing & Social Security Agencies. • The centre will provide a meeting place for the Oi Wah Woman’s Group, adult English classes, • the Chinese youth club and the Chinese 50+ ageing well group. • Multi-ethnic traditional cultural festivals will be held in the Southern Board Area. • We will continue to liaise with local statutory bodies and the PSNI to address & monitor levels of racial incidents. • Summer Scheme for children, families & young people.

Charitable purposes

To promote the benefit of the Chinese Community ("the community") in Greater Craigavon, Banbridge, Dungannon, Armagh and their environs (the "area of benefit") by associating the Community, individuals and voluntary and statutory organisations in an effort to provide or secure the provision of facilities in the interests of social welfare for education (especially with regard to racial equality), health-preservation, recreation and other leisure-time occupation of those in the community who are in need as a result of their youth, age, disability, poverty or social and economic circumstances so that their conditions of life may be improved and in particular: - To advance the education of children and teenagers by providing or securing the provision of a youth club, after-schools club, and any other facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation, education that such children may to full maturity as individuals and citizens and that their conditions of life may be improved. -Establish appropriate facilities such as English classes for adults; a youth club and Chinese language and culture classes for all ages as well as setting up a community centre. i)promote the arts and raise awareness of the cultural identity, traditions, heritage and history of the community (primarily but not exclusively) for the benefit of the general public in the area of benefit; ii) to work towards the elimination of racial discrimination and to promote equality of opportunity and good relations between persons of different racial groups by working in partnership with voluntary and statutory organisations, businesses and the general public and to promote awareness among the general public and to promote awareness among the general public of the Race Relations Order N.I.; and the Equality Commission (N.I.).
