Public benefits
The club meets every Thursday morning in a safe environment and helps its members to socialise and take part in various activities which contributes to their health and wellbeing. It also provides speakers to educate the members on benefits and on other problems which pertain to their age group. Benefits are demonstrated by: Our members attend
regularly every Thursday and our numbers have increased from between 40 - 50 to between 60 - 70. We had 65 members attend our Christmas Dinner and Dance in December. Earlier last year we had what was described as an MOT day which was delivered by the The Womans Information group. Any member who wanted could get checked for Diabetes, get blood pressure taken etc. This was very successful and resulted in two of our members being told to see their family doctor re their blood pressure being high. Our members benefit greatly from outings arranged by the club, i.e. a visit to the Mac Theatre in Belfast. We have an ambulance arranged for our meetings and this enables some of our members to attend who would not otherwise get out and socialise. The beneficaries are those in the St Bernards Hall area encompassing the Antrim Road and Glengormley. There is no harm or private benefit flowing from the purposes.
