Public benefits
Purpose No. 1 1. The advancement of the Christian Faith – Public Benefit The equipping of individuals to live an everyday life based on biblical principles. This benefit is demonstrated by demonstrable evidence of change of those attending the church. An unhelpful authoritarian approach is avoided by creating space for conversation and feedback.
The wider community is also benefited, through the rent and use of the local town hall. No fees are required, donations are welcomed. Purpose No. 2 2. Offering Support for people who are in conditions of physical, mental or spiritual need, hardship or distress – Public Benefit The pastoral support and sense of community offered allows the individual to benefit from a warm welcome, inclusion, acceptance, friendship and also the help of signposting to other helpful organisations. The potential harms might include an inadequate pastoral response due to the extent of the individual’s need . Our response is a shared pastoral investment in the individual by a team of people allowing others to contribute. This can result in other organisations benefiting from referral. Purpose No. 3 3. Advancing community development in the area of benefit and particular the promotion of the community and voluntary sector for the benefit of the public by providing support and facilities to community and voluntary groups. Public Benefit The public benefit is a stronger community through recognition of and partnership with other community and voluntary groups. This creates a sense of community and is evident through shared events held involving the whole community. We are aware that this can create a spirit of competition rather than co-operation, self promotion rather than community promotion. This is rectified by a shared sense of vision and purpose adopted by all. Others benefit privately through profile-raising, providing resources/personnel and services for community events. Reasonable fees may be charged to ensure costs are covered. Purpose No.4 4. Promoting education and training by organising, and providing facilities for, courses and other forms of tuition. Public Benefit Learning for life and work. The proof of learning is attendance, commitment to, engagement and completion of the provided courses and feedback forms. We do not foresee any harm. A private benefit may be the potential payment of tutors, facilities and course materials. Reasonable fees may be charged to cover course expenses.
