Public benefits
Purpose: To advance the principles of Christianity for the benefit of the public in accordance with The Bridge Christian Fellowship statement of faith. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include the provision of a place of worship in Strabane where The Bridge Christian Fellowship meet each Sunday morning. These meetings raise
awareness and understanding of beliefs based on the Bible and are open to anyone to attend. The benefits also include an identifiable positive, beneficial, moral and ethical framework which we seek to promote and live by as set out in the Bible. The organisation supports and is involved in missionary and outreach work both at a local and international level and the benefits of this include practical work completed by members of the Bridge in Kosovo alongside missionaries there. Further to these benefits, the Bridge runs a soup kitchen every other Friday which is open to anyone in the public. This provides a free soup lunch to anyone who wishes to avail themselves of it. On every Friday we also operate a free coffee shop which opens from 10am-4pm. This offers free tea/coffee and buns to anyone who wishes to avail of the facility. In accordance with living as the Bible teaches, we recognise the social needs of our community and seek to provide opportunities to support those in need. This includes making our building available, free of charge, for the use of the local “Overeaters Anonymous” group, “Recovering Alcoholics” group and for the use of counselling conducted by qualified counsellors from “The Koram Centre” in Strabane. Every other week we also run a youth club for students of Knockavoe Special School to attend as meetings with staff at the school identified that students social needs were not being fulfilled outside of school hours. These benefits are demonstrated through feedback from members of the Bridge and their families, comments on Facebook and letters of thanks expressed by those who have benefited from The Bridge in some way (such as the Overeaters Anonymous group). There are no foreseen circumstances in which any harm could be caused by The Bridge Christian Fellowship to any individual as our covenant clearly states that all are welcome regardless of creed, class, colour or culture and none are judged or pressurised. The charity’s beneficiaries are those people living in Strabane and the wider district. The Sunday meetings are advertised on our Facebook page which is open to anyone to access. We also use the local newspapers to advertise special events organised outside of our weekly meetings such as a Craft Fair and Carol Service. Those within Strabane community are able to benefit from these services. The only private benefit flowing from this purpose is the employment of a church worker and this is necessary because we require an overseer and facilitator to prepare sermons for Sunday, liaise with other members in relation to pastoral matters, organise and oversee the various activities of the Bridge Christian Fellowship including the youth club for children from Knockavoe Special School and being present on Fridays at the coffee shop and Friday soup lunches. In doing this the employee will help to achieve the purpose of the Bridge Christian Fellowship.

The Bridge Christian Fellowship meet each Sunday morning to worship God and learn more from the Bible through teaching and preaching. We pray together and spend time after the meeting having a coffee and a chat. The Bridge Christian Fellowship supports and is involved in missionary and outreach work both at a local and international level. We
give regular donations to missionaries working in Kosovo and this year raised money for a team who went to Kosovo to improve facilities within a number of local schools and carry out practical work. The Bridge Christian Fellowship also opens every Friday and operates as a coffee shop from 10am-4pm offering free tea/coffee and buns to anyone within the community who wishes to avail of the facility.
