The Charity's intended beneficiaries are the volunteers Of Early Years membership groups whose purpose is the advancement of Education for Children and Adults within the Larne, Carrickfergus and Newtownabbey area. The purpose of Branch is to reflect the wide diversity within the Early Years membership and ensure that all members, daycare,
playgroups, parent and toddler, crèche, after school groups and nursery schools/units and Sure Starts feel welcomed and valued and that Branch activities reflect their diverse needs. There will be no harm flowing from our purpose and no private benefits. Evidence of Branch meetings are available by request from Branch minutes.

Approxiamtely three meetings are arranged each year by a committee which consists of a chairperson, secretary, treasurer, fundraiser. The committee meet separately to plan events and in some instances prior consulation is sought from persons that attend such as questionnaire or discussion at meetings. Each Branch meeting is carefully planned to
reflect the new and emerging issues for Early Years members at local level. Link with the Early Years Adviser / Development Worker is made to decide what the needs are in your area and plan to meet the needs of all sectors of the membership – parents, parent and toddler groups, playgroups, daycare, after school provision etc. The branch are a key area for sharing what is happening in the early years policy and funding arena – locally, nationally and internationally. Some topics/activities from the past are as follows:- • Funding opportunities for early years services • Key policy and lobbying issues • Update on recent research • Open meeting with local nursery schools, reception classes, and primary schools • Open night for parents • Sure Start Information Session • Child Care / Children’s Services Plan – How to influence developments at local/area level • Specialist services for children with special needs • Developing international links • New developments in continuous professional development • Successful PR for your service and your Branch • New product development for indoor and outdoor play • Members’ forum for discussions and peer support. • Community Development information and support with funding • Information on Toybox (Working with families from the travelling community) and MIFC

Charitable purposes
The objects of the Branch shall be to advance the care, education and play development of children 0-14 years by co-operating with Early Years in: a) Encouraging the formation and development, by responsible people, of group play and other related activities within the Branch area for the 0 -14 year age group. b) Increasing parental recognition of the needs of children and the value of high quality early years provision. c) Bringing together for peer support and training all those who are interested in the well being of children (0 - 14 years) and their families. d) Promoting public awareness of the value of high quality early years provision. e) Ensuring that members understand Early Years standards of good play practice. f) In furtherance of these aims the Branch may liaise with any charity association with objects similar to own. g) Doing all such other lawful things as are necessary for, or conducive to, the attainment of the above objects.
