Public benefits
Purpose 1: The advancement of the Christian Faith according to the principles of the New Testament of Jesus Christ; primarily, but not exclusively, within Bangor and the surrounding towns; encouraging the moral good of all. The direct benefits which flow from purpose 1 are as follows: A) Organise weekly services that are open to the public and
members alike, all of which are free. The purpose of which is to bolster and encourage the wellbeing and morality of those in attendance and provide a place for people to worship God. B) Provide support and guidance to the members undertaking activities that seek to promote Christian belief as set out in the New Testament, thus encouraging the propagation of Christian beliefs and ideals in the local community. C) Assist the work of individual Christians and Christian/Aid outreach platforms, insofar as that works, whether in this community (Bangor) or abroad (India Mission program), accord with the aims of the Church and the purpose of the charity. These benefits can be demonstrated by the attendance numbers at Sunday and Wednesday Assemblies, Ladies class on Tuesday, Men’s class on Tuesday and Sunday morning services. Via our website, www.churchofchristbangor.com we answer people’s Bible questions and try to help as many as we can. The beneficiaries of this purpose are anyone within the local community who wishes to attend. PURPOSE 2: To advance religious education and carry out such other charitable purposes as shall, in the opinion of the members of the Church in general further the work of the Church. While spiritual benefits may be thought of as being intangible, they are important to the adherents of a religion – else they would not live by the requisite principles involved in possessing those benefits. However, as a church, we provide other benefits which might be seen as being more immediately tangible. While we here in our church in Bangor have Bible classes, we do a lot of our education work through our Indian missionary. We maintain an elderly visitation program into one of the local nursing homes. This includes group singing of hymns and spiritual encouragement. This time is guided by members of our congregation. Every year here in Bangor we are involved in charitable work including the Local Women’s Shelter, the “Winter Wooley Walk” for the Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children and the Storehouse Food Bank in Bangor. The direct benefits that flow from this purpose are: 1. People in Bangor receive spiritual and moral encouragement and a sense of religious “belonging” within the community. 2. People in the community who are in need of physical help receive food, toiletries and sundries. 3. Children within the community receive help with their Cancer treatment. These benefits can be demonstrated by: 1. People have been helped over the years and are Christians today, in this community, as a direct result of this work going on. 2. We continue to be involved in charitable works that are self evident as to their benefit such as the support of Cancer treatment for children in Northern Ireland, and the support of the Women’s Shelter in Bangor. The beneficiaries of this purpose are all who are interested in spiritual things and attend our services, those children within our community (and across the Province) who are suffering with Cancer, abused women, the elderly, those who are hungry, and indeed anyone else whom we deem has a legitimate need and whom we can personally help. There is no harm arising from either purpose. The only private benefit arising from these purposes is that those of us in positions of responsibility for the operation of the church and the implementation of these purposes would regularly be involved in the spiritual teaching and classes of the church, and thus obtaining the benefit of better knowledge. This is necessary and incidental to achieving our purposes. None of us receive any personal financial benefits or remuneration.

The church conducts worship and religious educational services for anyone who wishes to participate. Our services are free and available to all who attend. We engage in the relief of local and foreign need when appropriate, and also engage in evangelism both locally and overseas. We are involved with helping those who have interest or need either
spiritually or physically. We contribute annually to a local Cancer charity and to a battered women's shelter.
