Public benefits

(a) The provision of high quality daycare and childcare. The direct benefits flowing from this purpose ensures children are provided with experiences which support and nurture all areas of learning and development. This is achieved by adherence to the High/Scope Pre-school Curriculum which is interlinked with the Department of Education for

Northern Ireland Pre-school Curriculum areas of learning, namely art, language development, early mathematical experiences, personal, social and emotional development, physical development and movement and the world around us. Elements of this philosophy are also replicated in the provision of daycare and out-of-school care. (b) Working to ensure that high quality daycare and childcare is available to children and families regardless of means, race, disability, gender, religion, belief or any other factor. The direct benefit flowing from this purpose is that children have the opportunity to develop in an environment free from prejudice, discrimination and stereotype. This is achieved by adherence to non-discriminatory policies in areas such as admissions, special needs provision, recruitment and selection, training and development, and partnership with parents. (c) Identifying the wider support needs of children and families and to seek to ensure that such needs are met. The direct benefit flowing from this purpose is that families are supported and encouraged by way of parent/carer discussions with staff, written observations of the children and in information sessions in areas such as healthy eating, speech and social development, behaviour management, play and sleep routines. (d) Encouraging, enabling and supporting the involvement of parents and carers in their children's learning and development. The direct benefit flowing from this purpose and the ethos of working in partnership with parents and carers is the exchange of information regarding the children, development of knowledge and skills by information sessions and child development programmes which ultimately enhance the children’s experiences and the provision of our services. (e) Contributing to the professional development of those working in daycare and childcare. The direct benefit flowing from this purpose is that staff and volunteers have a shared vision for children and families and a shared understanding of the curriculum processes which will enable children to become confident, self-directed learners. (f) Encouraging and enabling the involvement of parents, carers and the wider community in the affairs of the Charity. The benefit flowing from this purpose is that provision of services to the children in the Centre are enhanced by heightening community awareness and affinity for the organisation in hosting community fun days and events, fundraising projects, working in partnership with other community based organisations and encouraging participation in the Parent Support Group and Management Committee. The benefits of each of the above purposes are demonstrated through direct parent/carer feedback, regular Southern Health and Social Care Trust inspections, review of parent/carer questionnaires, evaluation by High/Scope and Early Years organisations, staff appraisal and generally by the positive experiences of the children attending the Centre. There is no harm related to these purposes and the beneficiaries are children aged six months to eleven years resident in the rural community of Eglish, Dungannon, County Tyrone and surrounding areas. There are no private benefits derived save that a number of children of staff and Trustees attend the Centre, they are however subject to the same admission procedures as all other children and any benefit is incidental.
