Public benefits
MPDA Statement of Public Benefit Purpose 1: To work for the benefit of the urban and rural communities in the Muckamore area and its environs of County Antrim without distinction of age, gender, sexuality, nationality, ethnic identity, disability, political or religious opinion in conjunction with the relevant statutory authorities, other
voluntary organisations and the inhabitants of the area of benefit to improve their lives. Working for the material and spiritual benefit of the urban and rural communities in the Muckamore area is a public benefit. This can be measured and evidenced through community activities and integration of MPDA’s work with the local community. The direct benefit of participation in MPDA’s activities is a more integrated and socially cohesive community, increased levels of community participation in community based activities, greater social and educational self-confidence through civic participation and the building of bridges between different parts of the rural and urban communities in the Muckamore area. The beneficiaries are the general public in the Muckamore area and the public valuation of the benefits can be evidenced through attendance at community events organised and delivered by MPDA and a willingness of the community to engage with the activities of MPDA on an ongoing basis. The wider benefit to the public will outweigh any detriment arising in the course of Christian outreach. Any private benefit arising out of the fulfilment of our activities is essential to the fulfilment of the purpose of working for the benefit of the community. No Trustee receives remuneration, reward or other private benefit for carrying out their Trustee responsibility. Purpose 2: To promote or assist in promoting community capacity building programmes and projects for the benefit of the people in the area of benefit who have need of such assistance as result of their youth, age, disability or infirmity, or social and economic circumstances, in an effort to increase the abilities, skills and self-confidence of such communities in the area of benefit. The direct benefits flowing from this purpose include the provision of health promotion activities, improvement of the physical environment and the overall improvement of the Muckamore area. This is demonstrated through on-going provision of an annual daffodil plant, senior citizens clubs, parent and toddler group, after-school homework clubs; youth work in the area and ongoing community dialogue around bonfires in the Muckamore area. There is no harm arising from the purpose. The beneficiaries are the general public in the Muckamore area. No private benefit is received by trustees fulfilling their trustee responsibilities in respect of these activities.
