Public benefits
The charity trustees are satisfied that both elements of the public benefit requirement are met. The Direct Benefits flowing from the purposes include, amongst others: ? Improved skills and employability of the groups and individuals engaged in learning ? Reductions in isolation and alienation ? Increased community cohesion (both cross-community
and cross-cultural), co-operation, sense of belonging and opportunities for volunteering ? Improved conditions in the locality, such as resourcing or public services, through engagement with and ability to influence authorities ? Reductions in crime or anti-social behaviour and a safer community ? Improved health and social outcomes, including reductions in stress and anxiety or improved self-sufficiency among community members ? Environmental improvements These benefits are all tangible and can be evidenced in records kept by the organisation of, for example: ? The number of jobs and work experience opportunities created ? The numbers of those who have successfully completed training courses/gained an accredited and non-accredited qualification ? The number of people participating in physical activity education and nutrition programme Evidence can also be found in evaluations and in surveys of living standards, feedback from residents and regular independent evaluation of our services. There are no harms flowing from the purposes. The beneficiaries are the local community at large, in particular, men and women from disadvantaged groups who are without formal qualifications and are seeking to return to learning, young people from disadvantaged groups who are not in fulltime education or training. There are no private benefits to any unintended beneficiary – any which arise will always be either incidental or necessary to fulfil the purposes.
