Public benefits
Embrace Comber is a “welcome” or “drop-in” centre located in Comber which seeks to benefit the general public in this locality by providing a safe place for men and women of all ages to meet together and enjoy friendship and activities. We believe that we provide the following benefits to people within the Comber area who wish to avail of the
services that we offer: Advancement of Community Development One of our aims at Embrace is to reach out into the local Comber community in which we are based, and we organise a number of activities to this end (please see below for further information in this regard). The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include: - An improved sense of wellbeing for those attending our drop-in centre as they enjoy friendship with our volunteers and with one another. - The provision of support and advice to individuals who may be struggling with a variety of issues including but not limited to family, work and financial problems. - The provision of practical assistance such as food and clothing to those in the Comber area who may be in need. - The entertainment and encouragement of men and women of all ages who participate in activities such as creative workshops in a safe environment with a Christian ethos. Such activities also assist individuals in the development of skills and capabilities as well as increasing self-esteem. Advancement of Religion Embrace Comber seeks to reach people outside of the Christian Faith in the Comber area through the provision of pastoral care, friendship and support. At our drop-in centre, we offer leaflets which provide information about Evangelical Christian beliefs and practices and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are also willing to share our faith with anybody attending our premises who wishes to find out more about what we believe. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose are the promotion of Christian values for the benefit of individuals, with those attending our drop-in centre encouraged to adopt a moral framework where they are good citizens, both by the literature that we provide and the example of our volunteers. The indirect benefits which flow from this purpose include the moral improvement in society as a whole which religion is considered to encourage. All of the above benefits will be evidenced through informal feedback from those who visit our drop-in centre. The charity’s beneficiaries are the general public within the Comber area, with our drop-in centre open to all, without distinction. We do not consider that any private benefit flows from either of the above purposes. We do not anticipate that any harm will flow from either of the above purposes.
