Public benefits

The benefits that flows from purpose 1 for the local community and society at large include a better understanding of who God is through the work and person of Jesus Christ, including the relationship between God and people, spiritual and emotional well being which also can have a positive effect on overall health. Other benefits include finding

purpose and meaning in life, peace of mind, healthier interaction with others and the ability to make a positive contribution to society by recognising the values of honesty, integrity, and compassion when dealing with others. Purpose 2: The benefits that flow from this purpose include the conducting of weddings, funerals, child dedications, (such services will be conducted according to the principles of the Christian Faith) prayer for and visitation of the sick, relief of hardship according to the charity's purpose and capability, parent and toddler groups, a place to talk through personal problems or concerns, and any other acts or services provided in the spirit of Christian compassion. The charity's beneficiaries are the local community and society at large. Purpose 3:The benefits that flow from this purpose can include the support of Christian missionary work at home or abroad financially or practically. Covenant Love Church currently has an average weekly attendance of between 30-40 people at its regular meetings and 70-100 attending special meetings. People attending and those part of the life of the Church, grow in the knowledge of God through the Lord Jesus Christ. They experience spiritual and emotional health and well being which leads to peace of mind, healthy relationships and finding purpose in life, all of which afford a direct positive effect on society. The fruit of this is displayed in honesty, integrity, a strong work ethic and improved relational skills. All of these can be measured in terms of the visible change of demeanour, dress and attitude within individuals, which in turn has a positive and lasting effect on those around them. Those who have changed become more outward looking and exhibit greater acts of kindness and generosity towards others and in meeting specific needs as they arise within the local community or in supporting missionary endeavours. A specific example of a benefit to the local community involved opening up the Church in the middle of serious civil disturbances and rioting over several days in order to provide a safe place for local residents to come. Tea and coffee was served with Church members on hand to chat etc, whilst at the same time providing an opportunity for those involved in rioting to opt out and have a place to visit, to cool off and think instead of participating in acts of violence. No obvious harm exists other than occurs in society in general. That said given the location of the Church in a seriously deprived area situated at a flashpoint between two divided communities this poses it own unique issues. Regarding missionary activities whether short or long term there is always a risk of persecution or attack depending upon country and geographical location etc. Private benefit: The two Co-Pastors of the Church are self employed and invoice the Church for their reasonable full time services of oversight and management, receiving financial renumeration as agreed by the Board of Trustees. This includes expenses such as fuel and official travel etc. Currently there are no other paid staff. Regarding the supporting of missionaries and missionary work it is the Church's policy to render assistance where appropriate and this has and may include aid given to relatives of Church members on foreign fields for their practical needs as they carry out their work. This is reviewed regularly and any decision made in this regard is reached on the basis of the work's merit rather than any sense of favouritism. Indeed clear boundaries are recognised and maintained in these matters.
