Public benefits

The group is established to relieve poverty, to advance education and to promote the preservation and protection of health and in particular to provide in the Castle area and its environs in Ballymoney facilities in the interests of social welfare for the education, recreation and leisure time occupation of young people who by reason of social or

economic circumstances have need of such facilities, so that their conditions of life may be improved. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include access to a wide range of activities within the youth club at a very small cost to the young people. Young people from disadvantaged backgrounds can partake in all activities regardless of their ability to pay. The young people have a greater sense of community spirit and citizenship through undertaking programmes and activities such as community clean ups, etc. An appreciation of good education is instilled into the young people and the importance of looking after their general health and wellbeing. Reduced anti-social behaviour is a result of the positive work being carried out with the young people. The young club provides an environment for friendships to develop with young people from both communities. This purpose does not give rise to any harm. In furtherance the group may, Establish and maintain facilities for young people where young people can benefit from the objects of the group. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include improvement of the quality of life for young people, better cross community relations, reduction of Anti-social behaviour, an increase in safe areas for the local community and reduced levels of stress and anxiety among the older residents. These benefits are evidenced through feedback from the local community, utilisation of the facilities and a reported decrease in anti-social behaviour. Network with other youth groups, locally and nationally in furtherance of the above objects. Very positive links have been made with other youth organisations across the religious divide which has improved relations among young people locally. The youth club itself is very mixed (by religion) and efforts are made to go on trips to other areas in NI which has developed a better understanding of local issues to young people. Benefits have been increased self-confidence, improved employability for young people, creation of new or enhanced skills, increased uptake of mainstream educational services and a reduction in isolation. These benefits are evidenced through feedback from the local community, beneficiaries attending courses, etc. Encourage young people to become actively involved in developing and running their own programme of activities. Young leaders in our community are created as a result of the training, support and programmes provided by the Youth Club. Leaders actively encourage young people to assume leadership roles within activities. Such work has developed a greater sense of responsibility among some of the young people and an acceptance by the wider community of the positive role they play in our community. Youth club members have gone on to assume leader positions within the organisation which provides positive roles models.
