The purposes of Castle Hill Foundation are to relieve conflict related trauma, distress , social isolation and to advance community reconciliation through the promotion of education and the delivery of support services to the inhabitants of South Tyrone and Dungannon Borough and adjacent western areas of Craigavon borough, in particular those
persons who have suffered as a result of terrorist activities (hereinafter called the “area of benefit”) without distinction of age, gender, sexuality, nationality, ethnic origin, political or religious opinion, by associating the statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and the inhabitants in a common effort to advance education, and to provide support services in the interests of social welfare for recreation or personal regeneration, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include: • Addressing the issues of declining mental and physical health amongst victims/survivors, their families and carers • Addressing the social and emotional needs of Victims and Survivors their families and carers. • Addressing Legacy issues of social division, such as sectarianism and cultural diversity by establishing the commonality of suffering across communities and the futility of social conflict. • Providing recognition and acknowledgement by addressing established needs of victims traumatised by conflict in the specified catchment area. • Advancing the education of the wider community and the effects of conflict on second and third generation victims through story telling forums. • Providing drop in support and personal and professional development workshops and activities. • This will be fulfilled through residential and respite trips, mental health and personal development workshops and a chance to network with others who have been in a similar position in order to reduce the feeling of isolation within the community. • The organisation will also give advice and help regarding welfare and other such issues that will help address the needs of victims/survivors, their families and carers. These benefits will be demonstrated by quality Service feedback surveys which are completed before and after each activity in order to better demonstrate the benefit of Services. There is also an annual Quality Feedback form which collates all the data from the year which further evidences a need for the work which is carried out. The beneficiaries are Victims and Survivors of the Troubles of Northern Ireland, their families and carers residing in the Craigavon, Dungannon and South Tyrone areas. There is no harm flowing from this purpose. There is no private benefit flowing from this purpose.
