The direct benefits of this purpose include education, social inclusion and artistic expression to the people throughout Northern Ireland that participate in our activities. These

benefits are directly evidenced by student performance, feedback surveys and postcode analysis. Purpose b) 'Provide workshops, classes, lectures and training in all aspects of traditional music and dancing skills to anyone in the area of benefit who wants to learn.' The direct benefits of this purpose include education, greater understanding of our shared culture and traditions, attainment of musical skills. We welcome disabled people and find our classes are particularly helpful to them. Our outreach includes teaching young people (St Bride's Parish Traditional School of Music), disabled people (Camphill Community at Glencraig) Parkinson's sufferers, and attendants at community centres around the Belfast area. Benefits are evidenced by discussion at events, postcode analysis, Student feedback surveys and performances (end of term ceilis). Purpose c) 'Organise performance of traditional music, song and dance and promote active participation in such arts.' The direct benefits from this purpose are supporting the arts, social cohesion, better health outcomes (particularly in dance) Benefits are evidenced by our growing membership figures, participant feedback forms and postcode analysis. d) advance the understanding and public appreciation our shared tradition and the links between Irish traditional music and dance and other genres of traditional music and dance. The direct benefits of this purpose are education resulting in enhanced understanding of cultural heritage. This benefit is evidenced by enrolment figures, postcode analysis and feedback surveys. During the running of dance classes there is the slight possibility of injury due to accident however this is extremely rare and the benefit outweighs the risk. The benefits are for people living in Northern Ireland, predominantly the Belfast Area and environs but we have many who live further away.

What your organisation does

BelfastTrad offers 40 classes per week in traditional music, song and dance at Stranmillis University College. We also offer a program of 20 workshops and lectures throughout the year. Each workshop features a free recital. We also support the following: Set dancing at the Camphill Community at Glencraig, Sets ceilis at Belfast Castle, the Belfast

Singing Circle, and run free weekly sessions for learners and participate in outreach activities for the elderly, Parkinson's sufferers, Girl Guides, etc. As well as that we hold two end-of-term concerts and ceilis for our students and their families and friends. We keep our prices low and offer a minimum of 10 free recitals annually. Our goal is to ensure that all members of the public, regardless of background, age or disability have access to traditional Irish Music and dance.
