Headhunters Railway Museum was established in 2002 with the help of former railway employees and enthusiasts to collect, preserve and interpret items of railway heritage for the education of the general public, with a particular focus on the railway companies which served Fermanagh and surrounding areas. It also promotes and encourages other forms
of social, cultural and recreational activity within the community for the advancement of knowledge and appreciation of our railway heritage. The direct benefit which flow from this purpose include a greater appreciation of the local railway heritage within Fermanagh and the surrounding areas including the cultural and social impact which their operation and withdrawal had. These benefits are evidenced through feedback from the public visiting the museum, participation in railway heritage events and the completion of surveys/questionnaires. The purpose does not give rise to any harm or derive any private benefit to those individuals involved. The benficiaries of this purpose are the general public with an interest in railway heritage who visit the railway museum and particiapte in associated heritage events, educational school visits, presentations and talks.

Headhunters Railway Museum is like taking a remarkable journey into the past, bringing the golden age of steam vividly to life. Established in 2002, with the help of former railway employees and enthusiasts, the museums purpose is to collect, preserve and interpret local railway heritage. The museum is a fascinating historical exhibition which
looks at the impact which the railways within Fermanagh and the surrounding area had on people lives. At a time when the local railway station was the gateway to the wider world, it reveals how railways stimulated exports, encouraged people to go on seaside holidays and brought a greater variety of goods to the shops. The museum is an archive for local railway artefacts, documents and research, including providing information on railway employees. Events are held regularly to promote the connection with steam travel including educational school visits and exhibitions. Headhunters Railway Museum works closely with many of the local museums and community organisations in promoting the cultural and social links associated with railway heritage. The museum are members of the Railway Heritage Association, Northern Ireland Museums Council and Fermanagh Lakeland Tourism.
