What your organisation does

The Friends of Omagh High School includes parents, staff and any interested party with a desire to assist the school community. The school principal is our Secretary. We aim to be as inclusive as possible and encourage participation from as many people as possible. Members are invited to assist with a wide variety of activities and to offer

their skills in the running of the FOHS and the activities we organise. This can include, for example catering at school events such as the Annual Induction evening or assisting with large one off events like Christmas Fairs, helping with sports day events, publishing cookbooks etc. Communication with parents and pupils is maintained through the school newsletter and we publicise our work in the local press. We are continuing to develop our links with parents through correspondence requesting an indication of their interests and skills. Fundraising events throughout the school year are varied and aim to connect with diverse interest groups including the local and wider community. Some of our recent initiatives have included a recipe cookbook including pupils, parents and some famous peoples' recipes, a balloon launch at Sports Day to raise money for a defibrillator, a Christmas flower arranging demonstration, quiz nights etc. Local businesses are generous supporters of our work and make a tremendous contribution to our activities in terms of finance and time. We also assist the school at regular calendar events such as induction evening and the School Open evening. Annual expenditure is discussed with the School principal to ensure the most appropriate needs of the school are met.
