Public benefits

The benefits for young people in the main using our organisation are as follows: Based on feedback gained from service users such as the the Dept Health and Social Services,the PSNI,Schools, Education and Library Boards,individual testimonies during fundraising activities where we meet the general public,independent evaluations by the Dept Culture

Arts and Leisure that fund various programmes and other charity organisations such as the Simon Community and independant evaluations by local council. Significant reduction in stress and anxiety. An opportunity to develop a life interest in a positive,accessible and affordable means of recreation{Angling} that reduces the risk of young people becoming involved in self harming and anti-social behaviour. Avoidance or a reduction in the dependancy of illegal substances. An increase in the level of individuals positive social interaction and the improvement of their social skills that follows. A reduction in the feeling of isolation for both young and old within society. An increase in the level of self esteem. Better relations with other young people. Providing valued support to Neighbourhood Policing Teams throughout N.Ireland by providing the opportunity for officers to work with young people in a positive setting and forging better relationships between young people and the PSNI An opportunity for young people to find solitude. A decrease in the dependancy of prescription medication.

What your organisation does

Angling First Ltd,delivers a days structured /supervised excellent angling activity experience to an average of 1500 people a year,the majority of which being young people. Our services are delivered via our pond located just outside Dromore,that is purposely designed for all abilities. Accessed on an organised group basis,every year the range of

groups using us continues to grow. Angling First relies on a team of volunteers who have the opportunity to develop as individuals through experience on street collections/fund raising activities and in assisting/supervising those angling on our pond. A significant number of volunteers have had personal problems and issues which they have successfully addressed by being members of the Angling First volunteer team

Charitable purposes

The company's objects are to promote the benefit of children and young people of in the main,18 years and younger,by providing access to the recreational and leisure time occupation of angling so as to develop their physical,mental and social skills with the object of improving their conditions of life so that they may grow to maturity as individuals and as members of society and to act as an aid to the social inclusion of the said young people.
