Public benefits

a) To promote the participation of young people in healthy recreation, particularly in Eglish, Dungannon and surrounding areas, without reference to sex, race, creed or social background, by providing and assisting in the provision of facilities for personal and social development, particularly in the context of rural isolation and social

exclusion. The public benefit flowing from this purpose is based on the creation of a structured, supportive environment and social outlet within the community for young people to try new activities, socialise and build new friendships. Benefits are demonstrated through the evaluation of our programmes and activities through participant feedback (e.g. informal group discussion, interviews, comment cards) with regard to the benefits of our provision. The beneficiaries of this purpose are predominantly people living in Eglish and the neighbouring areas. There is no perceived harm flowing from this purpose. (b) To advance the social and personal development of young people by providing facilities for educational, social, interactive and other recreational activities so as to develop their physical, mental and spiritual capabilities to enable them to grow to full maturity as individuals and members of society. The public benefit flowing from this purpose is based on our provision of a wide range of programmes and activities for youth which are based around themes such as health, community relations and education. We support the development of social skills which participants can factor into other aspects of life and to make informed choices. Benefits are demonstrated through the evaluation of our programmes and activities through participant feedback (e.g. informal group discussion, interviews, comment cards) with regard to the benefits of our provision. The beneficiaries of this purpose are predominantly people living in Eglish and the neighbouring areas. There is no perceived harm flowing from this purpose. (c) To provide and assist in providing facilities for recreation, education or other leisure time occupation of young people who have need for such facilities by reason of their youth, poverty or social or economic circumstances or other disadvantage or in the interests of social welfare and with the object of improving their conditions of life. The public benefit flowing from this purpose include bringing young people together to partake in recreational community activities which reduce isolation by raising opportunities which a rural area. We offer a community facility with weekly activities designed and delivered using a bottom up approach to ensure they are representative of individual needs. Benefits are demonstrated through the evaluation of our programmes and activities through participant feedback (e.g. informal group discussion, interviews, comment cards) with regard to the benefits of our provision. The beneficiaries of this purpose are predominantly people living in Eglish and the neighbouring areas. There is no perceived harm flowing from this purpose. (d) To advance community development by promoting co-operation and joint activities between charities, community, voluntary and statutory organisations. The public benefit flowing from this purpose includes our networking and partnership work in the community with other not for profit organisations (e.g. community relations programmes). This ensures the delivery of quality programmes and prevents duplication. We also refer users within Molly and Mia to other service provision which we feel would be beneficial. Benefits are demonstrated through the evaluation of our programmes and activities through participant feedback (e.g. informal group discussion, interviews, comment cards) with regard to the benefits of our provision. The beneficiaries of this purpose are predominantly people living in Eglish and the neighbouring areas. There is no perceived harm flowing from this purpose. There is no private benefit.

What your organisation does

The Molly and Mia Foundation works to support the entire community, and in particular youth. A key aim is for the creation of a supportive environment and social outlet within the community for young people to try new activities, socialise and build new friendships, although we also support families and mothers who following the loss of a baby. Our

activities include; - creative writing courses, - literacy, numeracy and ICT programmes to include accreditations; - Saturday club providing physical activities for young people, - fitness classes and healthy lifestyle programmes, - Holiday programmes e.g. Summer Schemes, Halloween events and multi-sport programmes, - trips and excursions craft making and upcycling workshops, - pampering sessions and therapy treatments for mothers. - Provision of a community garden which provides a place for respite and remembrance as well as gardening and horticultural programmes. Overall, we operate a broad programme of activity to make a difference in the lives of local children and families, building their skills and experiences to enhance their quality of life. Our provision is diverse and offers a wide range of social, recreational and educational activity which builds new skills and experiences. We provide access to local services for a community which possesses a distinct lack of opportunities due to its’ rural nature. Inclusion, skill development, empowerment and relationship building are at the core of all that we do.
