Public benefits

The Dawson Trust promotes the advancement of education and the advancement of health. The primary direct benefit flowing from the purposes is the encouragement of excellence in mental health nursing achieved through the provision of an annual bursary to the mental health nursing student who, during the 3 years of the undergraduate degree course at

the University of Ulster’s Magee campus, demonstrated and achieved excellence in mental health nursing over the 3 years in both theoretical and practical components of care. The wider benefit to the public is the increased emphasis on excellence in mental health care. The benefits can be demonstrated through, for example, the University of Ulster having been identified in academic performance and practical performance of achieving excellence theory and practice in mental health. There are no harms arising from the purposes or any private benefits which would be more than incidental. The beneficiaries are the recipient students and, in turn, the wider public.
