Public benefits
The attainment of qualifications and vocational skills so that opportunities for employment are enhanced. This will also help those in employment sustain and improve their prospects. This will be to the benefit of the community especially the young people. These benefits can be evidenced through achievements of qualifications, certificates,
employment statistics, Awarding Body accreditations, Education Inspectorate visits and reports. We also provide facilities in our building to local community groups and residents to help promote social inclusion including cross-community activities. While learning joinery skills the young people have been able to donate some of their work such as bird boxes and tables to local charity shops and groups looking after the sick or disabled. We have helped local voluntary groups apply for funding and have provided furniture and equipment to help them put on art and craft exhibitions.

CTS provide training to all the community. We apply for funding from several different sources such as local government, local council and EU funding. When these applications are successful it allows us to offer training to those who cannot afford it either free of charge or at greatly reduced rates. The courses targeted at the teenagers include
Numeracy, Literacy, ICT as well as Vocational courses allowing them to find where their strengths may lie. We also deliver courses to adults especially those who have not succeeded in mainstream education and we specialise in small groups with mentors to help those who need extra assistance. Courses range from short one day Health & safety to 18 month National Vocational qualifications. Successful trainees leave to go into fulltime work or onwards to higher education even University. Health & Safety courses including First Aid and Exercise classes both promote social inclusion and the health and well-being of participants and the local community. These benefits can be demonstrated through participant feedback.
