Public benefits

Purpose a The direct benefit is reduced social isolation and a community hub for the benefit of all inhabitants, were people can access information leading to the community being better educated. We can demonstrate this by a diary of regular paid bookings, and the number of people attending events. Purpose b The Stranocum Community Centre is used

for amateur sport, and the promotion of culture, arts and heritage. The promotion of amateur sport is demonstrated by the Centre having regular bookings for five-aside football, the local angling club meeting there, and classes in dance and Zumba having occurred in the past. There have been several musical concerts and community events like BBQs and other community celebrations like the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and Christmas also being held there. Purpose c The Centre helps to relieve poverty, lack of opportunity, poor housing, lack of education and social exclusion. It also helps in the advancement of citizenship and community development. The Centre can demonstrate this by the Community Youth Club being held there on Saturday nights throughout the winter. The Youth club provides a meeting place for children between 10-15 years where they can interact with their friends, play games and organise trips throughout N,I in safe and regulated environment. The local over 55 years club also uses the Centre for their monthly social meetings, several of the members of this group are also involved in a Forum with local Housing Executive representatives to try and promote and sustain good quality housing in the area. A mother and toddler club meets weekly in the Centre. Monkeynastics have also been run in the Centre in the past for children after school. Purpose d The Centre helps to promote education and advance the promotion of culture, arts, science and heritage. The Centre can demonstrate this by being used for adult education classes in Maths and Computing. There have also been classes in flower arranging and jewellery making in the past. The Centre has been used for training in child protection and Community Centre Management by Ballymoney BC. As previously mentioned musical concerts have been run in the Centre, Burns celebrations were run last month and the a book on Local History was launched in the Centre with a celebration dinner, entertainment and book signing. Purpose e The Centre helps to relieve poverty and lack of opportunity. It also seeks to promote amateur sport. The Centre can demonstrate this by having regular bookings for 5 aside football and the local angling club meetings. The Centre has also been used as a water station for the annual half marathon which passes the Centre. The local Community Groups have held several health fairs in the Centre with representatives from local health charities, health professionals and local safety organisations like the fire brigade and local river rescue. Purpose f The Centre helps to improve the environment and advance citizenship and community development. The Centre can demonstrate this as the local community groups which meet in the Centre regularly meet with local Councillors, the PSNI, the Housing Executive and Local Council staff to present the views of the local community and provide a Forum to try to improve standards of local housing, local amenities (the local parks and recycling facilities) transport and community safety. Purpose g The Centre helps in the advancement of citizenship and community development and the improvement of religious education and individual capabilities and skills. The Centre is available for all Community groups and organisations, and individuals to attend or hire regardless of their religious persuasion, political views, gender, sexual orientation or age. there is no private benefit or harm flowing from the purposes and the beneficiaries are the residents of Stranocum and Environs and the general public

Charitable purposes

Stranocum Community Centre Ltd. has been set-up to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Stranocum and its environs, without distinction of gender, sexual orientation, age, race, ethnicity, or political, religious or other opinion, by associating with the statuatory authorities, voluntary groups or community organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to: 1) promote community development by providing facilities, support and information for community and voluntary groups and organisations and assisting such organisations to co-operate to achieve their aims. 2) provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and other leisure time occupations with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said residents. 3) relieve those in need by reason of youth, age, ill-health, disability or other disadvantage. 4) advance education and training and the arts and culture. 5) promote amateur sport and participation in healthy recreation. 6) advance environmental protection and improvement and improve or provide public amenities. 7) promote good community relations and social cohesion, racial harmony and equality and diversity.
