THE ADVANCEMENT OF HUMAN RIGHTS, THE ADVANCEMENT OF HEALTH AND THE RELIEF OF POVERTY AND THOSE IN NEED Human trafficking is the deception, movement and exploitation of human beings for profit. It is the fastest growing form of global organised crime, and often targets the most vulnerable members of society. The harm inflicted upon victims and
communities is significant and demands action be taken. It is our purpose to prevent human trafficking and so protect human life and dignity by: (a)addressing the reasons for its existence, particularly within Northern Ireland. (b)engaging with and contributing to the global anti-trafficking movement through partnership with STOP THE TRAFFIK GLOBAL (of which we are a member), and other agencies and NGOs. The benefits which flow from this purpose include: (a)increased recovery of victims and the prevention of further harm to victims (b)a reduction in criminal activity, and an increase in criminal convictions (c)the creation of safer communities (d)the exchange of best practice ideas, joint policy development, strengthened links between Governments, NGOs and communities, and cross-border sharing of intelligence and law enforcement. The beneficiaries are existing and potential victims of human trafficking as well as those involved in the exchange of ideas. ADVANCEMENT OF EDUCATION Due to its criminal nature, human trafficking is often a hidden and covert activity. The provision of education and training in relation to human trafficking and raising awareness of this issue with the general public is therefore key to its’ prevention, enabling communities to become more vigilant at identifying and reporting potential signs and empowering them to engage with this issue in specific ways. The more people know and respond to this issue, the less able traffickers are to operate in Northern Ireland. In addition, there are a number of spheres within society which are key to addressing human trafficking in a front-line manner, including educators, youth workers, PSNI officers, medical staff, social workers, letting agents, postal workers, taxi drivers, etc. Through providing tailored training programmes for these groups, we aim to educate and equip people to understand and deal with human trafficking in a contextualized manner. Increased awareness education and tailored training programmes directly benefit existing victims of human trafficking (a significant increase in the number of victims recovered in the past year has been attributed by the PSNI to an increase in public awareness) and may also prevent potential victims who are vulnerable to being trafficked. Training programmes will also benefit the professionals and groups within society who may encounter existing or potential victims in their jobs, which has previously led to victims being identified and help provided. THE ADVANCEMENT OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND THE IMPROVEMENT OF COMMUNITY Community engagement with the issue of human trafficking is essential for the sustainability and advancement of progress and change that is positive for victims. We facilitate, train and support eight community groups located across NI, each engaging with the issue in a way that suits their locality - raising awareness and providing training as a means of prevention, and in some cases providing care and support to recovered victims in finding employment, accessing benefits and integrating into society. This not only benefits victims, but also directly benefits the communities involved: engagement draws people together and becomes a uniting project with people working together towards a common goal. We do not anticipate that any harm will arise from any of these purposes. The only private benefit flowing from our purposes is related to the employment of a Development Manager who receives a salary and employment related benefits. However,we consider this to be incidental and necessary in order to further our charitable purposes.

NO MORE TRAFFIK exists to educate, activate and connect people across Northern Ireland in their response to human trafficking. Human trafficking is the deception, movement and exploitation of human beings for profit and is currently the fastest growing form of organised crime. Raising awareness of the issue and equipping people to respond is a
crucial part of our work. We believe that awareness leads to action and action leads to change. As well as running regular awareness sessions in schools, youth projects, churches and community groups, we provide tailored training for front line sectors identified as being key in addressing human trafficking. Every instance of trafficking involves a person being trafficked from a community into a community, therefore we believe that by working together a community has the power to prevent it. As a partner of STOP THE TRAFFIK Global, we facilitate, train and support eight NI community groups, each engaging with the issue in a way suiting their locality. NO MORE TRAFFIK works alongside government and law enforcement agencies. We support the initiatives of the Dept of Justice NI Human Trafficking Action Plan outlining the priorities and objectives for the year ahead across a range of areas including the prevention of human trafficking, the protection and support of victims and bringing perpetrators to justice. We are also an active member of the Dept of Justice’s Engagement group. We recognise that human trafficking is a complex and hidden crime which exploits the most vulnerable members of society. There isn’t an easy solution but we believe that the greatest impact can be achieved when we work together. It is a key aim of NO MORE TRAFFIK to help connect and co-ordinate the work of the anti- human trafficking movement within NI, seeking to achieve this by facilitating training sessions, organising high profile events and campaigns, and through online and social media.
