Public benefits

Advancement of Citizenship or Community Development The direct benefits which flow from the above purpose are the contribution by the Institution to support and encourage all organisations which seek to ameliorate ill-health, poverty and social deprivation in the wider community, both at home and abroad. These benefits are evidenced by regular

and substantial support, both financial and practical, for a series of ‘designated charities’ which include over the past 10 years organisations such as Alzheimer’s Society, Kiwoko Hospital, Uganda and Diabetes Research UK. All work carried out by e.g. medical charities, is in the hands of qualified professional staff who are subject to the normal requirements for such persons. We are not, nor have we been, aware of any harmful results. The charity’s beneficiaries are all those whose medical or other need brings them within the ambit of the organisations supported. Any private benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the organization achieves its purposes. It might arise only through the increased professional capacity of those employed by the organisations supported. Advancement of Religion The direct benefits which flow from the above purpose are adoption of members and others who come in contact with the Institution of a moral framework which encourages all to study Holy Scripture more carefully and thus increase their knowledge of the Reformed Faith. This should result in lifestyles which exemplify Christian citizenship and encourage a Christian contribution to wider society. These benefits are evidenced by an increased sense of Christian responsibility, lifestyle and actions by those who come within the Institutions field of influence, e.g. the outworking includes increased involvement in the life of the local church and contribution to the well-being of wider society through community involvement, fundraising for good causes etc. We do not believe that there are any harmful results from these actions. The charity’s beneficiaries are all members of the public who choose to avail themselves of our activities. There is no private benefit to any individual or organization.
