Public benefits

The purposes of BBSRC are, “the promotion of community participation for the preservation and protection of health” amongst our beneficiaries and “to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure-time occupation” to relieve need amongst the beneficiaries. The direct benefits flowing from the purposes include

the physical health benefits of taking part in sport and exercise, namely reduced stress and anxiety, social benefits of being a member of a team, social interaction for the isolated or lonely and helping people with disabilities. The benefits can be demonstrated through feedback from members and participants and are monitored by the Committee. There are no harms arising from the purposes and there are no private benefits which are more than incidental or necessary; for example members of our Management Committee could benefit from gaining skills in helping to run social sports centres or holding office but this is clearly necessary in order to provide the benefits. The beneficiaries are the general public of Ballycastle and the wider North Antrim area, and in particular, people in need of such facilities.

What your organisation does

The main activities of our group are running the Bowling Club and making available the facilities for the people of Ballycastle, the District of Moyle and the wider North Antrim area, along with providing leisure facilities for tourists, within a cross community environment.
