Public benefits

The trustees believe our purposes satisfy the public benefit requirement. The direct benefits which flow from these purposes include a reduction in the numbers of lonely and isolated older people in Greater Belfast, an increase in activities and services for older people in Greater Belfast, older people's groups and forums have the skills and

capacity to represent themselves to policy makers and service providers. Older people are involved with and influencing issues which effect their lives and communities. These benefits can be demonstrated by feedback from older people, their carers and families and referring agencies, evaluations, and focus groups regular monitoring information on outcomes and impact of programmes, by the number of older people joining groups and forums, taking part in consultations, and improving their skills. There is no harm flowing from these purposes. The beneficiaries of these purposes are older people in Greater Belfast. A private benefit to trustees may arise due to ongoing governance training through which they gain skills and experience which are transferable to other settings. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the good governance of the organisation.

What your organisation does

Engage With Age works in partnership alongside hundreds of older people's groups across Belfast, with representative forums and with older people in their own homes and in supported housing schemes. Our work supports and enables older people to develop and maintain social relationships and connections with each other and their communities. Our work

enables older people to get and remain connected, involved and engaged, developing and sharing existing and new skills, and having their voices heard on issues that are important to them.
