In relation to all of the purposes of Ardinariff Historical & Cultural Society, the direct benefits include: 1. An increased knowledge and awareness of Ulster-Scots within the locality of Ardinariff and surrounding areas. Through training, workshops and events organised by our society, many people obtain experience in the music, dance, history and

culture of the Ulster-Scots. 2. The personal development of intellectual, physical, emotional and spiritual capabilities, which in turn provide value to the individual and society as a whole in terms of improved health and well-being. 3. Providing facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure time occupation, with the object of improving living standards, health and well-being of the residents of Ardinariff and surrounding areas. Also providing greater opportunities to engage in activities that bring local residents together improving their mental, emotional and social well-being. These benefits are evidenced through feedback from regular evaluations. The beneficiaries of Ardinariff Historical & Cultural Society are all people living in the locality of Ardinariff and surrounding areas, without distinction of age, sex, race, political, religious or other opinion. There are no harms resulting from any of the purposes. No person connected with the organisation gains a private benefit which is more than incidental to carrying out the purposes.

What your organisation does

Our organisation provides a range of activities which include musical instruction, art/painting for pleasure, keep fit/Zumba, yoga, Scottish country dance classes plus Historical and cultural events, and an Ulster Scots Summer School in July for 7-16 year old children.

Charitable purposes

1 To promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the area and its environs (hereinafter described as “the area of benefit”) without distinction of age, sex, race, political, religious or other opinion. It will so do by associating the statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare, education, recreation and other leisure-time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants; 2 To promote and educate in the Ulster Scots tradition and cultures and other indigenous cultures, and to provide Social Inclusion and support for local people.
