Public benefits

Purpose a) To maintain and manage a centre (hereinafter called Dun Uladh) in the area of benefit for the advancement of education in the Irish language, heritage, culture, music, dancing, art and local history and folklore The direct benefit that flows from purpose A is the increased knowledge and understanding through having access to facilities

for the advancement of education in the Irish language, heritage, culture, music, dancing, art and local history and folklore. These benefits are evidenced through the numbers attending classes, their progression and the evaluation questionnaires completed by participants. This purpose does not create any harm. The beneficiaries of this purpose are the general public who wish to avail of these services. The only private benefit flowing from this purpose is to the tutors and management of the centre, this is incidental and necessary to ensure the transfer of knowledge to participants and efficient running of the Centre. Purpose b) To provide facilities for the education of the public The direct benefit that flows from purpose B is the increased access to non-mainstream education facilities for the public. This benefit is evidenced through physical building and facilities housed within. This purpose does not create any harm. The beneficiaries of this purpose are the general public who wish to avail of these facilities. There is no private benefit flowing from this. Purpose c) To provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for education, training, recreation and other leisure-time occupation of those who have need of such facilities as a result of their youth, age, economic or social circumstances, disability or infirmity so that their conditions of life may be improved The direct benefit that flows from purpose C is the provision of improved access and facilities for the public for the purposes of education, training, recreation and other leisure-time occupations which in turn improves their quality of the life. These benefits are evidenced through the feedback gained in evaluation questionnaires completed by participants and independent evaluations. This purpose does not create any harm. The beneficiaries of this purpose are the general public who wish to avail of these services. The only private benefit flowing from this purpose is to the tutors and management of the centre, this is incidental and necessary to ensure the transfer of knowledge to participants and efficient running of the Centre. Purpose d) To foster and encourage, facilitate and provide practical assistance designed to promote the regeneration of the local economy by means of reviving traditional and modern rural arts and crafts The direct benefit that flows from purpose D is the improved status of rural arts and crafts in the area resulting in an improved financial position of artists and service providers working in this area. These benefits are evidenced through the evaluation questionnaires completed by artists and can be further evidenced through a survey of connected service providers. This purpose does not create any harm. The beneficiaries of this purpose are the public who wish to avail of these services and the artists and service providers contracted by the centre. The only private benefit flowing from this purpose is to the artists and service providers contracted by the centre, this is incidental and necessary to ensure the transfer of knowledge to participants and to service the users of the centre travelling for far away.

Dún Uladh Ltd offer music classes, dance classes, language classes, traditional arts activities, performance opportunities and community activities. Dún Uladh also offer rooms and facilities for hire to the local community and community groups at reduced rates to that of hotels and commercial venues. The centre offers opportunities for those from

the area to engage with the arts at an affordable rate with many free of charge activities.

Charitable purposes

The Company's objects are to advance education and to promote rural regeneration for the public benefit in County Tyrone and its environs of the north of Ireland including the border counties and in particular: a) To maintain and manage a centre (hereinafter called Dun Uladh) in the area of benefit for the advancement of education in the Irish language, heritage, culture, music, dancing, art and local history and folklore; b) To provide facilities for the education of the public; c) To provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for education, training, recreation and other leisure time occupation of those who have need of such facilities as a result of their youth, age, economic or social circumstances, disability or infirmity so that their conditions of life may be improved; d) To foster and encourage, facilitate and provide practical assistance designed to promote the regeneration of the local economy by means of reviving traditional and modern rural arts and crafts.
