Public benefits

1. Relieve poverty, sickness and help the aged. 2. Promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Tullycarnet and it’s environment (hereinafter described as “the area of benefit”) without distinction of age, sex, race, political, religious or other opinion, by associating the statuary authorities, voluntary organisations and the inhabitants in a common

effort to advance education, and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure-time occupation, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants. The trustees believe that both of our purposes satisfy both elements of the public benefit requirement. Purpose 1 The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include improved health incomes and reduction of poverty. These benefits are demonstrated through feedback from the residents and surveys carried out as well as statistics provided by NISRA. There is no harm from this benefit. The charity’s beneficiaries live in Tullycarnet. A private benefit to trustees mat arise from their participation in training programmes. These programmes though will help them gain skills to ensure the benefit is provided to the beneficiaries. Purpose 2 The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include the rise of educational attainment and reduction of social isolation. These benefits are demonstrated through the number of people completing essential skills qualifications, increased passes in exam results and the rise in attendance at activities in local centres. There is no harm from this benefit. The charity’s beneficiaries live in Tullycarnet. A private benefit to trustees may arise from their participation in training activities. The trustees may lack educational qualifications and will be assigned a place on the training in the same way as all other beneficiaries. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to beneficiaries.
