Public benefits

1. The direct benefit which flows from this purpose is that young people from Newry and surrounding districts can access informal educational services which improve their knowledge and skills and which can improve their confidence and self-esteem. These benefits are demonstrated through user feedback, evaluations and from a variety of assessments

carried out by our staff and funders. A private benefit to trustees may arise from increased training in governance and finance. Through training trustees will gain transferable skills which are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit to the beneficiaries. 2. The direct benefit which flows from this is that young people from Newry and surrounding districts have access to a safe environment in which to socialise and take part in a number of educational and recreational activities. These benefits are demonstrated through user feedback and through surveys carried out by funders and other service providers. We do not believe there to be any harm in this benefit.

What your organisation does

The Magnet Young Adult Centre is a voluntary youth centre which caters for young people aged 16 - 25 from Newry and the surrounding areas. The centre is unique in that it is completely managed by young people. We provide a range of informal educational and recreational activities for young people as well as providing opportunities for young people

to socialise in an alcohol free environment. The centre also provides health information and counseling to young people. The centre relies heavily on volunteers who deliver a lot of the programmes within the centre. volunteer recruitment and training are therefore essential to the ongoing running and development of the centre
