Public benefits
Purpose: To enhance the development and education of children between the ages of three months and twelve years in South Armagh and its surrounding environs The direct benefit which flows from this is that children have access to social interaction with other children and have opportunities through play for stimulation and education. In addition,
the children are prepared for school through mastering the basic skills of expression, communication and problem solving. These benefits are evidenced through feedback from parents throughout the year who send their children to our afterschools club, community crèche and kids club. Through feedback from parents we are able to identify what their needs are and the needs of their children and so will be able to identify appropriate programmes including services for families. Purpose: To relieve the needs of children with additional complex needs and their siblings by providing respite schemes. The direct benefit which flows from this is that children with complex needs have the opportunity to engage in structured activities with their siblings which quite often they don’t get the opportunity to do as they may go to separate schools or specialised clubs. These benefits are evidenced through the provision of respite schemes during periods of school closure. Feedback from the children and parents is very positive. Purpose: To advance public education by the provision of information and advice on registered childcare provision in the area of benefit; including sign posting to other services. Beneficiaries: Parents and the public. The direct benefit which flows from this purpose is that parents/guardians can choose to place their children in safe, high quality, properly managed facilities knowing that their children are not only properly cared for but they will be engaging in activities which promotes their development. Parents are then able to engage in training, employment opportunities and/or family services. Pu Purpose: To advance any other exclusively charitable purpose related to the promotion, provision, maintenance and enhancement of childcare as the directors may, from time to time, decide in accordance with the law of charity of Northern Ireland. Beneficiaries: children, parents, the public. While the main benefit to the public will primarily focus on the first 3 charitable purposes, the Directors have included this purpose so that they will not be restricted in who or what they help in relation to childcare promotion or provision. It should allow them to identify areas for enhancement or development in the future. The directors recognise that it must be for one of the twelve charitable purposes as outlined in the Charities Act. There is no harm or private benefit flowing from the purposes of the organisation.

South Armagh Childcare Consortium was established to address the gaps in registered childcare provision primarily in the South Armagh region but also across the Southern Trust area. We operate in some of the most deprived wards in Northern Ireland providing services for families which suffer a various range of disadvantages with the most common
being spatial inequality which is caused by various reasons such as religion, culture and race etc. Our Early Years childcare specialists offer opportunities through play to stimulate and educate each child in our care and our out of School services are flexible to suit individuals childcare needs and focus on helping each child to build character, learn valuable skills, make new friends and discover new interests in a safe and caring environment. We offer affordable after-school services, out of school provision and creche services. As our services are widespread throughout a number of different rural communities, we work with children from a range of backgrounds such as children from ethnic minorities, children with special needs and families of the travelling communities etc.
