Public benefits

Purpose: The relief of those in need by reason of youth, age, ill health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage through the provision of financial assistance. Beneficiaries: people living in Ireland. Benefit: Reduced level of hardship and stress to people at particularly difficult times in their lives. Demonstrating the benefit: In

the last year we have awarded 30 grants of between £300-£500 each to bereaved families in financial hardship to contribute towards funeral costs. These have been situations where the breadwinner has died leaving the widow and children with debt due to funeral costs. In addition: Financially assisted a Lithuanian lady suffering from cancer who was having difficulty meeting her living costs. - A Banbridge lady was assisted when her house was destroyed by fire when oil tank was maliciously set alight. - Assisted the family of a young person suffering from cancer with travel expenses to visit hospital in Belfast. - An Indian lady who was racially attacked in her Greenisland Home was assisted with re-housing. - An 86 year old man who got his car stolen and burnt out after being robbed at knifepoint in his bedroom was given a grant towards car replacement. Purpose: the advancement of education of young people Beneficiaries: young people living in Ireland Benefit: educational knowledge and attainment of young people in both academic achievement and develop their musical experiences Demonstrating the benefit: through the provision of grants and bursaries: Largely to young people going to 3rd level education (mostly from deprived backgrounds) To enable young people to attend 3rd level education by making a grant to assist with living or travel costs (mainly to those in rural locations). - grant awarded to Co Armagh based band taking a number of young people on a cross cultural trip to advance their musical education to the Somme Battlefield where they had opportunity to participate in Last Post Ceremony at Menin Gate. - assistance given to a Co Fermanagh group of young musicians to be educated musically for visit to Norway and participate in Constitution Day Events Purpose: to further such other purposes that are charitable under the law of Northern Ireland as the trustees in their absolute discretion from time to time determine. Beneficiaries: people living in Ireland Benefit: While the main benefit will primarily focus on the first 2 charitable purposes however from time to time trustees will make grants and financial contributions to any charitable need that they feel worthy of financial assistance. The trustees have chosen this purpose so that they will not be restricted in who or what they help as different situations present themselves they will judge each case on merit and need and recognise that it must be for one of the twelve charitable purposes as outlined in the Charities Act. Demonstrating the benefit: examples to date include: - Assisting trustees of a community hall in Co Cavan towards hall refurbishment to allow hall to be used for cross community activities. There is no private benefit or harm from the purposes of the organisation.

Charitable purposes

The Charity is established: (1) for the relief of those in need by reason of youth, age, ill health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage of people living in Ireland (the area of benefit) through the provision of financial assistance; (2) the advancement of education of young people in the area of benefit through the provision of grants and bursaries; (3) to further such other purposes that are charitable under the law of Northern Ireland as the trustees in their absolute discretion from time to time determine.
