The Public Benefit 1. The advancement of citizenship or community development: The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include improving the conditions of life of local residents, improving social cohesion and improving community relations by regenerating and developing the area in addition to providing community facilities. These benefits
will be demonstrated through increased numbers using the community facility and attending the events organised by FADDA. 2. The advancement of education: The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include keeping people informed. With people increasing their knowledge, they will be able to make informed choices with regards to their lives and widen their skills and knowledge in various areas. These benefits will be demonstrated through feedback from individuals, groups and participants. 3. The advancement of heritage: The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include providing education programmes in connection with the history of Forkhill and district. This will result in improved knowledge and awareness in relation to the local oral and pictorial history, folklore, culture, arts and heritage of the area. These benefits will be demonstrated through attendance at cultural events held by FADDA and evaluation forms from the same. 4. The advancement of environmental protection: The direct benefits which flow from this purpose are the promotion of the sustainable development within the community to preserve and protect the environment whilst achieving sustainable economic growth and regeneration. It will enhance the local landscape, heritage and biodiversity while meeting the challenges of climate and economic change. There will be an increased awareness and understanding of the local nature and cultural heritage. None of the purposes will lead to harm. For all four of the purposes, the charity’s beneficiaries are people living in Forkhill and surrounding areas. In relation to the four purposes, the only private benefit flowing from this purpose is FADDA’s programme of ongoing training that a trustee may attend in relation to good governance, finance etc. Through this training trustees gain skills and expertise which are transferable to other settings. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries.

Forkhill & District Development Association Limited is housed in Forkhill Business Centre in the heart of rural Co Armagh. Local community groups avail of the facilities to in turn meet the needs of residents in the Forkhill and greater Forkhill area. The centre supports older peoples, history, art and women’s groups, for example. Local people
are able to hire retail and commercial outlets on a not for profit basis.
