THE ADVANCEMENT OF CITIZENSHIP OR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT THE BENEFIT THAT FLOWS FROM THIS PURPOSE IS AN IMPROVEMENT IN THE CONDITIONS OF LIFE OF THE INHABITANTS OF THE MADDEN AREA AND ITS ENVIRONS OF COUNTY ARMAGH. TO PROVIDE AN OPPORTUNITY FOR COMMUNITY TO LIAISE WITH STATUTORY AND VOLUNTARY AGENCIES IN A COMMON EFFORT TO ADVANCE EDUCATION,

PROMOTE CHRISTIAN FAITH AND TO PROVIDE FACILITIES IN THE INTERESTS OF SOCIAL WELFARE FOR RECREATION OR OTHER LEISURE-TIME OCCUPATION. THE PREVENTION OR RELIEVE OF POVERTY. THE DIRECT BENEFITS WHICH FLOW FROM THIS PURPOSE INCLUDE DEVELOPMENT OF COMMUNITY CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMMES AND PROJECTS PROVIDING AN OPPORTUNITY TO INCREASE ABILITIES, SKILLS AND SELF CONFIDENCE OF THE COMMUNITY WHICH WILL LEAD TO A REDUCTION OF POVERTY AND DEPRIVATION AND BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF THE FACTORS THAT CONTRIBUTE TO POVERTY AND DEPRIVATION. THE ADVANCEMENT OF EDUCATION THE DIRECT BENEFITS WHICH FLOW FROM THIS PURPOSE INCLUDE PROVIDING A WIDE RANGE OF PROGRAMME OF ACCREDITED AND NON ACCREDITED EDUCATIONAL AND RECREATIONAL CLASSES IN A WELCOMING ENVIRONMENT. THIS WILL INCLUDE THE HISTORY OF MADDEN SCHOOL HOUSE. INDIVIDUALS WILL BECOME MORE SKILLED, RECEIVE QUALIFICATIONS WHICH HAS THE POTENTIAL TO FURTHER THEIR JOB PROSPECTS, REDUCE SOCIAL ISOLATION AND ENCOURAGES INDIVIDUALS TO BECOME MORE INVOLVED IN COMMUNITY LIFE. YOUNG PEOPLE WILL BE LESS LIKELY TO BECOME INVOLVED IN ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR. THE ADVANCEMENT OF HEALTH. THE DIRECT BENEFITS WHICH FLOW FROM THIS PURPOSE INCLUDE A HEALTHY DEVELOPMENT, PREVENTING DISEASE AND ENABLING HEALTHY BEHAVIOURS WHICH IN TURN BRING ABOUT HEALTHY WORKING AND LIVING ENVIRONMENTS. TO EDUCATE OLDER PEOPLE AND YOUNG PEOPLE AGED BETWEEN 3 AND 18 THROUGH THEIR LEISURE-TIME ACTIVITES SO AS TO DEVELOP THEIR PHYSICAL, MENTAL EMOTIONAL AND SPIRTUAL CAPACITIES SO THAT THEIR CONDITONS IN LIFE MAY BE IMPROVED. THE ADVANCEMENT OF THE ARTS, CULTURE, HERITAGE OR SCIENCE TO PROVIDE EDUCATION PROGRAMMES IN CONNECTION WITH THE HISTORY OF MADDEN SCHOOL HOUSE. THE DIRECT BENEFITS WHICH FLOW FROM THIS IS IMPROVED KNOWLEDGE AND AWARENESS IN RELATION TO THE LOCAL ORAL AND PICTORIAL HISTORY, FOLKLORE, CULTURE, ARTS AND HERITAGE OF THE AREA. THE ADVANCEMENT OF HUMAN RIGHTS, CONFLICT RESOLUTION OR RECONCILLIATION OR THE PROMOTION OF RELIGIOUS OR RACIAL HARMONY OR EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY. THE COMPANY SHALL BE A CROSS-COMMUNITY BODY AND THE DIRECTORS AND MEMBERS SHALL ENDEAVOUR TO MAKE EVERY PERSON WELCOME. THE DIRECT BENEFITS WHICH FLOW FROM THIS PURPOSE INCLUDES A REDUCTION IN SECTARIANISM AND RACISM AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF TOLERANCE AND UNDERSTANDING AMONGST PEOPLE FROM DIVERSE BACKGROUNDS. THE ADVANCEMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION OR IMPROVEMENT. THROUGH THE CREATION OF AN EDUCATIONAL RESOURCE CENTRE THE DIRECT BENEFITS WHICH FLOW FROM THIS PURPOSE INCLUDE TO PROMOTE FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC THE PRESERVATION, PROTECTION AND IMPROVEMENT OF THE 19TH CENTURY, GRADE B2 LISTED STRUCTURE (MADDEN SCHOOL HOUSE). THE PROMOTION OF THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT WITHIN THE COMMUNITY TO PRESERVE AND PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT WHILST ACHIEVING SUSTAINABLE ECONOMIC GROWTH AND REGENERATION. ENHANCING THE LOCAL LANDSCAPE, HERITAGE AND BIODIVERSITY WHILE MEETING THE CHALLENGES OF CLIMATE AND ECONOMIC CHANGE. THERE WILL BE AN INCREASED AWARENESS AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE LOCAL NATURE AND CULTURAL HERITAGE. RELIEF OF THOSE IN NEED. THE DIRECT BENEFITS WHICH FLOW FROM THIS PURPOSE INCLUDE IMPROVED CONDITIONS OF LIFE AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF COMMUNITY CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMMES AND PROJECTS PROVIDING AN OPPORTUNITY TO INCREASE ABILITIES, SKILLS AND SELF CONFIDENCE OF THE COMMUNITY. THERE IS NO POTENTIAL HARM OR PRIVATE BENEFIT OCCURRING AS A RESULT OF THE PURPOSES BEING CARRIED OUT.

At the moment we run a pre-school and hope to commence a after school program is September 2014. We hold community open days, education days, health programs and community get togethers for children, families and senior citizens

Charitable purposes

The purposes of Madden Schoolhouse Heritage Commitee are The company’s objects are specifically restricted to the advancement of education, the promotion of the Christian faith and the promotion of the benefit of the inhabitants of the Madden area and its environ of County Armagh, Northern Ireland. Without distinction of age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, nationality, ethnic identity, political or religious opinion, by associating the statutory authorities, community and voluntary organisations and the inhabitants in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure-time occupation, with the object of improving conditions of life for the said inhabitants and in particular: (a) To promote for the benefit of the public the preservation, protection and improvement of the 19th Century, Grade B2 listed structure (Madden Schoolhouse) through the creation of an educational resource centre. (b) To advance education in connection with the history of Madden School house in relation to the local oral and pictorial history, folklore, culture, arts and heritage of the area of benefit for the benefit of the general public. (c)To promote or assist in promoting community capacity building programmes and projects for the benefit of the inhabitants within the area of benefit who have need of such assistance as a result of their youth, age, disability, or infirmity, or social and economic circumstances, in an effort to increase the abilities, skills and self-confidence of such communities in the area of benefit. (d) To educate and assist the beneficiaries, and in particular but not exclusively children and young people aged between 3 and 18 through their leisure-time activities so as to develop their physical, mental, emotional and spiritual capacities that they may grow to full maturity as individuals and members of society and so that their conditions of life may be improved. (e) To advance any other exclusively charitable purpose as the directors, may from time to time, decide in accordance with the law of charity.
