Public benefits
To provide a safe environment for the young people of the area and should help reduce any risk of antisocial behaviour. Also to provide a safer social point for young people and to give them the opportunity to enjoy other peoples company. Evidenced by many young people making use of the café and felt at liberty to spend time there. Extended opening
hours in the future will benefit this cause. This will benefit the young people of the village and also their parents for they know their kids are in a safe environment. Also village residents as young people are not acting in any antisocial manner in the village. No harm can come of this benefit. Some directors may benefit privately by the fact that their families will have the use of the café in the evenings but this is coincidental. To have the café which will provide healthy meals and reduce social isolation by providing elderly people opportunities to interact with their community and with each other. Also to improve the life of individuals who are disadvantaged mainly due to living on their own and with little support from immediate family. The interest of local carers to provide such a service is proof of the need for it. Benefits the elderly of the village meals can be provided locally as the next closest café is 10 minutes’ drive away. There are few available places in the community for this type of event to take place in. No harm can come of this benefit. Some directors may benefit privately by the fact that their families may be able to attend this event but this is coincidental. To provide a neutral environment for babies and children by providing mothers of such children with a means of alleviation of stress by mutual support where this is not readily available from within the community. The evidence for this is that we have been asked to provide this service and several people have volunteered to help run this event. This will benefit the mothers in the village as it provides a social place for them to comfortably meet with one another, create friends and socialise, reducing the impacts of social isolation. No harm can come of this benefit. Some directors may benefit privately by the fact that their families may be eligible to attend the event but this is coincidental. To serve healthy and affordable food for the local community without distinction of sex or of political, religious or other opinions. The proof is the café offers a menu of home cooked food all at very competitive price and will benefit all members of the community. No harm can come of this benefit. Directors of the charity will benefit from the provision of affordable healthy food also but this is coincidental. To secure the establishment of a community space for activities. The café has an upstairs function room to be refurbished for community use as a meeting place or other uses in the interests of social welfare. The evidence for the need for this is that several community groups have expressed interest in having their meetings in the room with the benefit of a food source on site. This will benefit community groups and all members of the community. No harm can come of this benefit. The directors may privately benefit from the hire of this room for private functions but this is coincidental. The café is to act as a drop in centre for anyone to discuss their needs – whether physical or spiritual. The café boasts a strong Christian ethos and welcomes everyone. Already we have seen evidence of the need of this service - Staff have noted that people suffering from the effect of substance abuse have made use of the café to provide food. Also they have discussed with staff some of the problems they suffer. Also those in spiritual distress have been also able to receive council and have received free copies of The Holy Bible. This will benefit all members of the community and no harm can come of this benefit. The directors are unlikely to receive any private benefit from this.
