Public benefits
The charity’s beneficiaries are children and performers in the performing arts of SPEECH, DRAMA, FOLK DANCING, MUSIC AND DANCE by the presentation of performances to be held annually. The Festival gives the opportunity for amateurs to form an appreciation of artistic standards, to perform and be assessed, encouraged and inspired by active
professional adjudicators. Preparing for and performing at a Festival involves young people in group activity and individual achievement. They gain a deeper appreciation of their repertoire and of the work of others. Each performer or group receives written feedback from the adjudicator. It hones skills in group work, time management, listening, evaluation, presentation, individual reliance, meeting deadlines, watching and assessing. Every skill gained in preparing for and giving a performance is a valuable life skill which will be used at job interviews, in the workplace, in leisure activities and interpersonal relationships throughout life. There is no harm flowing from this purpose and no private benefit.

Portadown Festival Association facilitates performers in the performing arts in Speech, Drama, Folk Dancing, Music and Dance. The Festival is held annually and covers Speech, Drama, Music, Folk Dancing and Dance. The Festival is performed by amateurs, judged by professionals and organised by volunteers. We provide a platform for the performers
who are accompanied by parents, guardians or teachers. We do not work in close or regular unsupervised contact with children. Our Safeguarding Policy is circulated prior to the commencement of the Festival. The Festival usually commences in late February and runs through to beginning of May each year. Although the Festival is held in Portadown each Section receives entries from and throughout the Province. Portadown Festival Association is affiliated to The British and International Federation of Festivals for Music, Dance and Speech.
