Public benefits

The benefits which flow from the Charity's purposes include: a) provision of the opportunity for persons of all ages with an interest in gardening to meet with like-minded people on a regular basis in a relaxed atmosphere. b) provision of an opportunity for members of the Society and the public to participate in organised visits to gardens which

enhances their knowledge of plants and garden structures while also providing an opportunity to foster friendships. c) provision of regular speakers on various horticultural and garden related topics and a forum for exchange of gardening experiences and ideas. d) provision of linkages with other similar societies to increase the range and quality of speakers, garden visits and events available and to provide mutual support. e) educating members of the Society and the public on gardening and horticultural matters. f) provision of an organisation which improves the quality of life of the inhabitants of Portadown and the surrounding area by stimulating an interest in gardening and horticulture. The Society provides the above benefits to the general public but in particular to the residents of Portadown and the surrounding area. Meetings are held in Council premises and hence are accessible by disabled persons.
