Public benefits

Devenish Partnership Forum meets the public benefit requirement by providing a wide range of activities and projects which addresses the needs highlighted by the community and by government statistics, which in turn provides a benefit to the local community. The individual residents who avail of services and activities benefit socially through

engagement, reducing social isolation and adding to better physical and mental health and wellbeing, Increasing confidence, improving educational attainment, increasing skills and capacity for the residents and access to services in the community. Residents experience a direct benefit through this engagement in activities and projects which results in the improved educational attainment, building new friendships, positive thinking, sharing of experiences, increased social inclusion. The individuals benefit by availing of opportunities to take part in activities and trips which they normally would not be accessible to them. The residents who avail of the community allotments and nature reserve which we have developed benefit directly by having a green space within walking distance which they can walk and enjoy, grow their own produce and maintain a healthy lifestyle. The direct benefit is monitored through evaluation forms, feedback both verbal and written. For funded programmes the direct benefits are monitored using the required formats - including feedback from local schools. The community indirectly benefit as a result of production of a newsletter distributed throughout the local area, the community representatives from each of the four estates are represented on the committee, through the engagement of young people in the area assists in the reduction of anti-social behaviour, building the social capital within the community and building a stronger community for the future. The Devenish Partnership Forum work for the wider benefit of the community and surrounding area –increases the services available within the area, working with statutory agencies and funding bodies to invest in environmental improvements including green spaces, roads, play parks etc. Investment in people to improve both physical and mental health and wellbeing through the engagement of the residents of all ages, restoring confidence and reducing social isolation. Reduction of anti-social behaviour. As the majority of our programmes are funded through a range of funding streams and in order to deliver our programmes/projects we employ staff which are unintended beneficiaries but are a necessity in order to carry out the purposes of our organisation.

What your organisation does

Devenish Partnership Forum was formed in a response to and identified need to combat high levels of deprivation. The catchment area which we deliver and work in is ranked the top most deprived area in Fermanagh and in the top 10% in Northern Ireland,( including Multiple Deprivation, Health, Education, Unemployment, Living Environment ). The

activities and programmes which we deliver are based around these areas and improving the lives of the residents. Two of our estates are within the Enniskillen Neighbourhood Renewal area which is an identified area of need that has been highlighted by the Dept of Social Development. We are currently delivering a range of programmes through Neighbourhood Renewal Funding to address the areas of disadvantage under education and health and building community capacity; Devenish Partnership Forum delivers a range of programmes and activities for all ages Currently our programmes/activities are: Early Days Programme which we are the lead partner which delivers a range of services for 0-7 year olds, we deliver a junior homework club 4-7 year olds. Homework and activity club for 8-12 year olds which provides homework support and educational activities throughout the year. Positive Peers youth programme - providing a range of educational and fun programmes for 13+ age group Investing in your health programme - delivering a range of health and well being activities Community support programme Senior citizen activities Community allotments scheme where we encourage residents to take a plot and grow your own food and get out and get active in the garden. We have a nature reserve which is used for educational and walking. We provide support and advice to the community associations. We are part of the Neighbourhood Renewal Partnership and sit on full partnership and sub committees.

Charitable purposes

To promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Kilmacormick I and II, Cornagrade and Hillview estates in Ennskillen in particular, but not exclusively, without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, age, disability, political, religious or other opinion by associating the statutory authorities, community and voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to:- (a) advance community development and in particular the promotion of the community and voluntary sector for the benefit of the public by providing services, training, support, information, facilities and the administration of grants to community and voluntary groups and encouraging and assisting such groups and organisations to co-operate to achieve their aims; (b) provide and maintain a Forum where member organisations can join together to find mutual support, exchange views, share common issues and information, create a collective voice for the community and voluntary sector and work in partnership with statutory agencies and authorities; (c) relieve those in need by reason of youth, age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship, unemployment or other disadvantage; (d) advance health and promote physical and mental well-being and participation in healthy recreation; (e) advance education and training and promote the physical, intellectual and social development of young children; (f) promote the protection, enhancement and improvement of the natural and built environment and the provision of public amenities; (g) develop the capacity and skills of residents of communities in the area of benefit that suffer social and economic disadvantage, in such a way that they are better able to identify, and help meet, their needs and participate more fully in society; (h) provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and other leisure time occupations with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants; (i) promote good community relations, religious and racial harmony and equality and diversity; (j) promote co-operation and partnership working between community and voluntary groups, public and statutory agencies and bodies and private sector organisations to help achieve these Objects; (k) promote such other charitable purposes as may from time to time be determined.
