Benefit Element Purpose 1 To prevent or relieve poverty, conflict related trauma, distress and or social isolation by providing aid to developing countries. The direct benefits, which flow from this purpose, include bringing hope and transformation to people in poverty or in distress due to conflict or social isolation leading to improved health,
education and a sustainable future where they can find their own solutions to poverty and injustice. Purpose 2 To advance education, health or the saving of lives, citizenship and community development in Northern Ireland and abroad. The direct benefits, which flow from this purpose, include the improvement of people’s health, education and employment prospects. The reduction of social isolation for those who are in need. Purpose 3 To advance amateur sport in Northern Ireland and abroad. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose are the increase of participation in sport by children, young people and adults to aid the improvement of health, tackle obesity, inactivity and social exclusion, to aid reconciliation in communities where there is conflict and to provide opportunity for those disadvantaged by financial hardship or otherwise. The benefits will be evidenced through feedback from beneficiaries, those involved in community projects and from any partner organisations together with regular evaluation of support and services provided. The purposes do not lead to harm. Public Element The charity’s beneficiaries are in relation to purpose 1 poor vulnerable and marginalised people, irrespective or race, creed or nationality in developing countries and in relation to purposes 2 and 3 the general public in Northern Ireland and abroad. A private benefit flowing from the charity's purposes is that Trustees and supporters benefit from being enabled to bring about change through giving and acting to achieve the purposes. An individual participant may obtain a private benefit incidental to the main purposes should they achieve professional success in sport where their prospects were enhanced by participation in the activities provided by the charity.
