Public benefits

The benefits which flow from the purposes of The Cabbage Patchers include: - A programme to help people on a tight budget to understand how to grow vegetables organically and economically. - Opportunity to learn new skills by providing intergenerational programmes to share knowledge and experience. – Creating interaction between groups that would

not normally have the opportunity to relate to each other. - Friends and companionship. - Raising awareness with the general public and in particular the local community of the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle - Promote trust and respect and reduce fear between generations - Providing work experience opportunities to unemployed people and volunteers - Disabled people and people with mental health problems and young people at risk, have an equal opportunity to become members and participate in programmes. - Creating a nurturing environment to support young people to complete community hours. These benefits can be demonstrated by the satisfaction surveys conducted, participant and service user feedback forms, AGM meeting discussions and feedback forms to Funders. The beneficiaries of The Cabbage Patchers are anyone living in the local area of Warrenpoint, Armagh and Down with an interest in living a healthier life. A private benefit to Trustees may arise from their involvement in the management committee and governance of the organisation. This work may enable them to gain skills and experience which are transferable to other settings. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure delivery of our purpose and public benefit. Volunteers may also receive a private benefit from the mandatory training which they undertake to deliver the project in the development of skills and experience that are transferrable to other settings. This benefit is also incidental and necessary to ensure the public benefit to our beneficiaries. There is no potential harm arising from our purposes.

What your organisation does

- Many of our members have been involved with the Cabbage Patchers projects since day one in 2010. We hold an annual AGM which is attended by guests, families, volunteers and friends and in addition to the AGM, we host an annual open day in June to sign up new friends and volunteers. - Local agencies such as the PCSP, Youth Justice Agency, Linking

Generations NI, Jobs & Benefits, local Councillors and education centres strongly endorse our community focused strategy. - Volunteers are provided with support, supervision and training and we will offer recognition through the Millennium Volunteer awards. - We aim to collect written feedback from our membership, Founding & Committee Members, Management Committee and Directors and the agencies we support on a regular basis. Founding & Committee Members aims to review the overall satisfaction and feedback strategy.
