Public benefits
The public benefits that flow from our organisation are as follows :- • Play based learning environments for all young children - this is demonstrated through our curriculum and feedback received from our Early Years Specialist, ETI inspection feedback and Western Health and Social Care Trust inspections ( who we are required to register with).
Charges to parents are minimal as the group fund raises and continue to submit grant applications to funders to cover running costs. We do however ask parents for a voluntary subscription of £3 towards children’s snacks. • Evidence based innovative services for children, families and communities – part of our curriculum involves completing ‘ Respecting Differences – Media Initiative for children’. Research highlights that the programme promotes positive images to ensure that children and young people are supported to grow together in an inclusive society where they respect diversity and differences. We offer this training free of charge to parents/carers to increase their recognition of the importance of doing diversity work with young children. We do this to ensure no harmful mixed messages to the children. Engaging meaningfully with parents ensures positive social participation and connections in the community. • Opportunities for all children to reach their full potential – Staff work on a Plan, Do, Review system where children’s progress and learning is constantly observed to ensure development in all six areas of learning. Children’s individuals needs and interests are being met and planned for to ensure progression. The staff’s interactions are sensitive, supportive and effective to promoting the children’s language and learning. The staff meet regularly to evaluate the planned programme and take a carefully structured approach to self evaluation which leads to improvements in the children’s learning experiences. • Partnerships with parents/carers and other agencies – We work together to build positive relationships with parents/carers and we involve other agencies and professionals in the group to ensure a cohesive, effective plan for the children. We believe strongly in the quote from CQA ‘ Parents are children’s first and most enduring educators and when parents and practitioners work together in early years settings , the results have a positive impact on the child’s development and learning. Therefore each setting should seek to develop an effective partnership with parents.’ • Training , professional development opportunities and appropriate remuneration for all adults working with young children – Our management committee have developed a policy on staff training to ensure ongoing professional development and updated training allows staff to keep up with current developments in childcare practice. The management committee ensure there are continuous funds available for staff to avail of training throughout the year so they don’t miss out on any opportunities. There is no harm or private benefit from the objects of the organization ( only incidental private benefit i.e. staff are paid a wage).
